Re: FOR SALE - NEW ASTRA COIL PACk

I don't want to be the bearer of bad news, but you can get an OEM one for $66 on Amazon. Sorry you paid so much for it. ...

Re: Oil in Coolant, but coolant not in engine

Just a quick update on this... I changed my coolant and have since put another 1000 miles on the car and had no problems. My original coolant was dark (it was about 4 years old), but didn't have an...

Re: Throttle Body

Yeah, check the code. The only time I seriously lost power was when my coil pack went. It started running rough, seemed like it was going to stall, and didn't have much power. It was an instant...

Re: Oil in Coolant, but coolant not in engine

I always change my own oil... it's so easy on this car.

I certainly hope it's something like the hoses. That would be much easier.

I plan to pull the coolant tank this weekend to see if I...

Re: Oil in Coolant, but coolant not in engine

I wish it was that simple, but I'm the only one who drives the car (my wife never learned to drive a stick), and because of the baffles, it would be impossible to pour oil in the tank where it is,...

Re: Oil in Coolant, but coolant not in engine

Yeah, and I'm having the same problems with it all in my mind. And I don't like automotive mysteries.

I can't even get into those sections of the tank to scrape off what is on the top of the...

Re: Oil in Coolant, but coolant not in engine

I had the same thoughts, but they came back from the test drive saying that after the drive they were going to buy it, but then saw the oil in the coolant and didn't want the car after that, so no...

Re: How difficult is it to replace the Ignition Coil?

If you need one, I have the AC Delco Mexico version that I bought from Amazon earlier this year. I'm selling it for $25 plus shipping. Let me know. It has less than 10,000 miles on it. I think my...

Re: Oil in Coolant, but coolant not in engine

The fluid is the Dex-cool compatible stuff. It's orange. I had it flushed at a bit over 5 years, so it's about 4 years old, and probably has about 60,000 miles on it.

I noticed those 3...

Re: Likely trading in the Astra - will have things to sell

Alrighty... pricing... Shipping cost is not included in the pricing. I'm just North of Detroit, so I'm happy to have anyone pick up and pay for items in cash, either in Troy or Madison Heights, MI. ...

I'll put pricing in the next post. First I wanted to post a few more photos:

Full disclosure on the grill, because I don't want someone to be surprised. The previous owner modified both the tabs...

Re: Likely trading in the Astra - will have things to sell

Hey everyone. I appreciate your patience. I started another thread to deal with the oil in coolant issue, just because this one was getting confusing. Here: ...

Oil in Coolant, but coolant not in engine

Hi all, some of you may have seen my other thread about this unexpected development with the Astra,

During an inspection of my car for a trade-in, the dealership says they discovered "alot of oil...

Re: Likely trading in the Astra - will have things to sell

Yeah, it's the first I heard of it too. I thought these were pretty solid little cars mechanically, but it happens.

I haven't decided if it's worth my time to try to fix. I may just try to get...

Re: Likely trading in the Astra - will have things to sell

We'll, not a good day for the Astra. I literally topped off the coolant 3 days ago and the coolant looked fine. Today at the trade in evaluation, the coolant had oil in it and they suspect the head...

Re: Likely trading in the Astra - will have things to sell

The wheels are 17" alloys. I can't remember what tires, so I'll dig them out of the garage and take photos. I want to say they were Michelin's, I know they were something much better than the...

Re: Wiring Diagram or wiring advice

Ground is ground, so yes, you should be able to re-ground it someplace else in the system without issue.

Likely trading in the Astra - will have things to sell

So... after 120,000 miles as the original owner of a very trouble free Astra, I'm thinking it's time to get something newer and I'll probably be trading in the Astra soon. I'll likely have a few...

Re: New member looking for 2008 Astra XR Tune up Info.

The MAF light is typically really the throttle body needing to be cleaned. They are both easy to do. For the throttle body, you don't need to take it off the car. You can just put throttle body...

Re: Manual transmission failures?

I'm at 120,000 miles. No issues, original transmission fluid, original clutch. It's a 1 owner car and I drive about 50% city, 50% highway, and it's mostly 20 minute commute drives. I drive it...

Re: Can't find OBD2 Connector

Yep, you found the spot. It's there someplace near that bracket, because that's where it's supposed to be. Here's mine.

Re: Can't find OBD2 Connector

Yeah, it's not under a panel either (it's visible and not covered), and it's generally under the steering column area, close to the clutch pedal side. It's kind of under the bottom of the dash, in...

Re: Does the Astra H MAF fit on the Saturn Astra?

Nope, I don't have that connector, but you might try to see if you can find a junkyard first gen Chevy Cruze with the base 1.8L engine. It might have the same connector. It's not the exactly the...
