Re: Relay not selling well?

IIRC, the problem you're referring to was caused by leaky engine compartment fuel lines. They also had some trouble with the 3.3-liter in particular with the fuel rail on the engine itself.

Re: Design of Relay

<off topic>

The main problem is that we have very limited quantities of natural gas. It's a fossil fuel, and it's set to peak soon after the oil supply does. If we depended on it more for fuel, it...

Re: Relay not selling well?

I've only seen three Relays so far. The thing I've been seeing the most of around here is the Uplander and the new Odyssey. Next would be the Chrysler vans. Very few of anything else, though.

Re: Longest Saturn Fan

Officially signed up in Dec. 2000, but I was a lurker long before then, if that counts.

Re: Would You Buy a Saturn Made in Mexico?

I'm not sure exactly what it is you're meaning by your post. So let me reiterate. I bought a Honda Accord, which was built in Ohio, out of mostly domestic components. The Ford Focus, which I almost...

Re: Would You Buy a Saturn Made in Mexico?

Honda and Toyota build cars here and pay as much or more than UAW workers get, and they provide a similar benefits package. It can be done.

But what difference would it make if design went...

Re: Would You Buy a Saturn Made in Mexico?

It's a shame that people don't know what is made where. Perhaps if people knew what "buying American" meant, it would be different. I suppose it isn't that I see jobs being shipped out of this...

Re: Would You Buy a Saturn Made in Mexico?

What do you think about purchasing products built here by non-American companies (Honda, Toyo, etc.)?

I'm curious as to what UAW people think about them, given that Honda and Toyota workers both...

Re: Saturn vs. Suzuki (guess who wins?)

There's a reason the ER staff in the hospital I work at calls motorcyclists organ donors...

In all seriousness, it's a tragedy I don't have a lot of sympathy for. This guy was being stupid and he...

Re: Would You Buy a Saturn Made in Mexico?

I refuse to buy a Saturn/GM vehicle, or any vehicle for that matter, that is assembled in a third world country under substandard labor conditions. It's bad enough that just about every consumer...

Re: Tennessean: Spring Hill Braces for Life After Saturn

At least for me, it's not so much about the quality of the car so much as who it's supporting. If an American company wants me to buy its product (and they emphasize their American roots with slogans...

Re: Interesting GM Article

I completely agree with the last post.

I'd be shocked, in a good way, if all of this was true. But I've heard this song and dance before too many times. The 2004 Pontiac Grand Prix, the '05 Malibu...

Re: Saturn Relay earned top honors in the IIHS offset frontal crash test!

I've read that it has a stiffer, redesigned engine and suspension subframe, as well as tougher side rails around the occupant compartment to help minimize intrusion.

It makes sense--all the...

Saturn Relay earned top honors in the IIHS offset frontal crash test!

They tested the Chevrolet Uplander, but the overall rating was GOOD!

http://www.hwysafety.org/news_releases/2005/pr041005.htm

GM meant business when they said they redesigned its structure.

Re: Comparison: Aura & the G6

The loss of polymer is simply a business decision on GM's part. I'm sure there were lots of people at the Saturn brand (and possibly in other areas of GM) that liked producing cars that wouldn't...

Re: '93 SL2 misfire

Thanks for the tips. We're going to do a compression test on it either today or tomorrow.

I don't trust this Saturn dealer, either. Once they realized that it wasn't something simple the computer...

We have not checked the compression. As I stated in the previous post, these readings came from Saturn.

Re: '93 SL2 misfire

Cylinder 4 has 35 lbs of compression. The others were 'well above 100,' according to Saturn. We haven't done our own compression test to see what the other three are at. But either way, there's a big...

Re: '93 SL2 misfire

As an update, the dealer replaced the EGR valve, and it did nothing for the car. Now they're claiming that cylinder number four has no compression and that the entire engine needs to be replaced. My...

Re: '93 SL2 misfire

The other three are indeed getting fuel. The engine runs, it's just very rough, and that particular cylinder is dead. I would've guessed injector problems, as well, but the Saturn dealer insists it's...

Re: '93 SL2 misfire

Allow me to clarify: The Saturn of ME service manager didn't sound at all convinced that it was really the EGR valve causing the problem. He said "we don't really know what's causing it, but the EGR...

Luke,

The SES light comes on and goes off intermittently, and has been for the past year. Saturn of Carbondale pulled the code and said it was the EGR valve (Saturn of Metro East is the one...

'93 SL2 misfire

We've got a '93 SL2 that my mom and dad both use from time to time, and the other day, cylinder #4 stopped firing. My dad and I replaced the spark plugs & wires on it the other day, and the cylinder...

If this is what the actual car is going to be like, all I can say is: WOW.

They might just yet turn me into a Saturn Fan again.

If this is the true future direction of Saturn, then other car...

Re: Latest IIHS Crash Tests

I think you have to take the audiences that the two cars appeal to into consideration. The Vibe is marketed at the typical Pontiac crowd--younger people, probably with less driving experience, and a...
