Re: Whatever this part is called ... it rattles

There are 400+ pages in that manual, lots of good info in there.

Re: New Felpro Intake Gasket Leaks.

Generally it lasts until you change the coolant and when you do that you add a new tablet with the new coolant. All makes-all models is the way to go. The head gasket job is more complex than you...

Re: What can i update my radio with

Go to Crutchfield and read up on the various features of the receivers that will fit. The short depth double DIN radios will fit a Saturn so keep that in mind.

Re: Whatever this part is called ... it rattles

Check page 303 of your owners manual. That will get you at the socket/lamp assembly so you can fix that rattle. The rest of it should be obvious once the actual lamp is out.

Re: New Felpro Intake Gasket Leaks.

It works for most people as the factory fill antifreeze(original formula DexCool) tends to soften the head gasket and cause it to seep. This stuff will fix it.

Re: New Felpro Intake Gasket Leaks.

Yes, entirely possible and a not uncommon failure. There is a possible fix though. Do not use any product except this recommended exact product and follow directions exactly. Do not use more that 2...

Re: Replace unknown hose (Vaccuum?) today, what is it? Pic inside.

The other end should connect to the throttle body vacuum harness. Evap was not a big deal in 96 so it does not set any codes unless the solenoid actually fails.

Re: 94 S trans issues, helping elderly neighbor

No point in going direct. Bad cables are quite common and are easily proved. Measure battery voltage between the terminal bolts, this true battery voltage. Then under identical conditions measure the...

Re: 94 S trans issues, helping elderly neighbor

The cost of any available scanner that even pretends to pull live OBD-1 Saturn data is more than the value of the car. Compression has nothing to do with this problem either.

Fixing this is...

Re: P0341 went away after replacing wires and plugs but

By holding the wires on the coil tower they also hold the coil pack front or top side down. Pitch the dummy clips and get 2 short bolts from the back side of a 99 or newer or anywhere on a 98 or...

Re: 31 psi FRONT, 28 psi REAR

Only $200.00 at Amazon.

This also works. Seek Thermal Compact Imager, lower cost.

Re: 94 S trans issues, helping elderly neighbor

Another part of the electrical issue is when the transmission shifts the solenoids dra several amps which can cause a momentary drop in the system voltage if everything is not functioning correctly....

Re: P0341 went away after replacing wires and plugs but

There are no power grounds on those 4 bolts. What there is are 2 EMI/RFI ground points to the 2 brass grommets with the lead from the coil core. These are on the lower 2 bolts and not the long ones...

Re: Replaced intake manifold gasket now worse than ever

Unless you get real dirty gas out of farm tanks the injectors should be clean. If in doubt you can use a couple of bottles of Chevron Techron Concentrate injector cleaner in the tank. Your front O2...

Re: Chirping sound from Crankshaft Pulley

I obviously read your post, THAT IS WHY I COMMENTED INLINE. As you mentioned the post above this will be my last post in this thread as apparently you already know all there is to know about this...

Re: Chirping sound from Crankshaft Pulley

The seal outer lip will be deformed if the seal/cover are not actually centered on the crank/pulley axis. Then it tends to run dry and squeak. This would be a problem I would be very hard pressed to...

Re: 94 S trans issues, helping elderly neighbor

I posted the cold start after stable idle (about 45 - 60 seconds after start) and hot alternator info above. The car temp has nothing to do with this. If you can find an autoparts store that does on...

Re: Chirping sound from Crankshaft Pulley

When you remove the pulley torque load you release the clamp load on the lower chain sprocket. This is a very bad idea. If spraying silicone on the outside of the seal does not stop the chirp then...

Re: 94 S trans issues, helping elderly neighbor

I told you that the voltage is critical and 14v at the battery is too low for proper operation of the transmission with all else being correct which also in question. You do not have to believe it...

Re: 94 S trans issues, helping elderly neighbor

AAMCO knows nothing about these transmissions or where to get parts. They have no idea exactly how they function either.

Re: 94 S trans issues, helping elderly neighbor

STANT 14279 thermostat is what fits the OEM housing and do not take the shortcut of a housing+thermostat as it is non standard. The STANT is the correct part.

Re: 94 S trans issues, helping elderly neighbor

That hot voltage minimum is 14.3 to 14.5V, this is a problem with that gen transmission.

If your ECTS is shot the trans shifting is impacted.

Re: New Felpro Intake Gasket Leaks.

Yes, and for those reading along at home the SOHC is aluminum intake not rot prone plastic.

When you take it back off lay a strait edge across the intake and se if it is permanently deformed.
