Re: Surging.

Thanks!

I dunno when I will get to it. I have 5 deer tags - my SO has 2, and my sister has 2. I expect to be busy butchering deer for the next couple weeks. Fortunately it is cold enough to hang...

Re: Surging.

Update. I had to run to town. So once the car was full warm - the advance ran between 40 - 44 btdc at 62mph and 55 mph. No surging.

Grrrrrr....

It's easier when stuff just breaks.

Easier to...

Live data on my scanner shows erratic advance under all conditions. At steady speeds the advance is between 11 and 34 degrees btdc. ..

Re: Surging.

Will try another EGR. I have a few...

Re: Straight Up Bragging Rights

454cid - we have a 94 Lebaron convertible. Very solid body. Zero rust. I drive it quite a bit in the summer - and it's our Saturday garage sale go getter... Very reliable and low maintenance.

Surging.

I've an annoying one on my 99 SC2.

I got the car with a rod thru the engine. ($300) and bought another 99 with a rusty undercarriage, and swapped engines.

All went easy.

It starts and runs...

Re: Straight Up Bragging Rights

My SO bought a 96 SC2 new. She put 350,000 on it. I fixed two deer strikes and one worn out engine on it. (@300k).

It is now in the back of the barn with the other parts cars as rust made it...

Re: Straight Up Bragging Rights

I only kept track of the Saturns.

If I counted motorcycles, boats and non-Saturns my count would be in the hundreds...

Re: Putting 1999 SC2 wheels on 2000 SL2

Score the whole car if you have the real estate to keep it.

There's a bunch of parts that will interchange...

Edit to add -

Steel wheels RULE!

I would pay extra not to have to hassle...

Straight Up Bragging Rights

I plan on winning this one. It's probably as stupid as "how many jellybeans can you fit in your mouth at once?" - but damnit - I am going for it anyway.

How many Saturns have you owned?

Re: How accurate is your odometer?

Which one?

The gen 2 and 3 are pretty good but all 6 of the gen 1 cars I have owned - the odometer didn't work.

Re: 2001 SC2 Coupe- where to put in transmission fluid?

Pour slowly in small amounts.

If you pour in a large amount - pressure builds up and it will burp back - puking ATF directly on the exhaust manifold....

Uness you need to fog for...

Re: Bad Weather Driving

Bullets of a higher cross sectional density are less affected by windage.

Increase the cross sectional density.

Fill under the seats with 1000 lbs of lead.

Re: Repurposed Saturn Parts

Here is my car dolly. Bonus - when towing Saturns a spare tire is good both for the car and trailer.

Re: New 99 SL2

Even if you end up swapping the trans - $600 for a rust free undercarriage is a good deal. 99 is a good year too.

If it were near me - I would snag it up - and I already have one. (96)

Re: Repurposed Saturn Parts

I dunno... The reduction gear would simply be a belt drive. Remember - drag racers have been running 200+ hp on Harley dragsters - using belt drives.

It would be interesting trying to come up with...
