Re: 2001 SL1: AC connector at the compressor

There is a refrigerant seal there. Lubricate it with mineral oil (never use refrigerant oil on the seals themselves).

Never use stop leak, eventually it will create death balls that will destroy...

Re: To dye or not to dye, religious debate

I'm getting ready to do the second timing belt on this car and will look at the seals then. Honestly the leak doesn't seem to be getting any worse so if its a front seal I may just leave well enough...

Re: Four Seasons AC compressor

I'd have to take it apart but I assume they crushed the gasket when they put it in. The gasket sits in a recess and they probably let it twist in there before screwing it down. You can't access it in...

Re: Tale of 3 fuel pumps

Nippondenso is the best part of owning a Japanese car. While I still consider my 5 speed Imprezza wagon to be a POS because Subaru never figured out how to make a head gasket at least quality parts...

Four Seasons AC compressor

This time last year I replaced my A/C compressor with a new Four Seasons. Previously I've used several different Chinese pumps (I have my EPA license so labor is free and refrigerant is cheap). This...

To dye or not to dye, religious debate

I find a drop of oil on the garage floor every other day or so. I've replaced the valve cover seals, and the figure 8 seal on the valve timing actuator. I might try the seal on the variable value...

Tale of 3 fuel pumps

A year or so ago the original fuel pump went out in my SC2 after about 270,000 miles, leaving me stranded at the Pizza my Heart in San Jose.

1) Replaced with Delphi pump. I've had great success...

Re: HELP finding massive coolant leak

BTW: Large leaks are usually pretty self-evident. However small leaks can be almost impossible to find, usually the occasional drop doesn't happen when the car is stopped. In that case a coolant...

Re: Key won't turn in ignition

There is a recall for that. Ultimately the solution is to replace the ignition switch. A new key will help temporarily.

Re: Just changed out fuel pump 1.5 months ago, no run!!!

What brand did you buy? Most of the aftermarket pumps are garbage.

Re: 5 speed transmission questions

The revs should not idle until you come to a stop. Then it goes down to around 800 rpm. This has been an emissions requirement for a long time. My 77 celiac had a vacuum valve to make this happen....

Re: Leaking fuel line at fuel rail?

How did you clean the injectors? Usually they have to be disassembled and then bench tested.were they spitting before?

Look up compressors on RockAuto and then look at the applicability list for one.

Re: Another radiator thread

If you fix it right it won't leak.
1) That's some type of no-name brand. Go to rockauto and get a Spectra at least.
2) Unlikely but maybe you'll get lucky
3) No it does not.

Re: Manual window regulator compatability

I found that site to be a dead end. After calling each place that said they had a regulator some wouldn't sell it without the door, some didn't actually have it, and some wouldn't ship at all. I was...

Re: Ignition lock cylinder problem

Take one of those keys and hide it away and use it to make a new copy every year. Always keep a virgin to make fresh copies from.
Most cylinders fail because of old rounded off keys.

Re: dropping rpm at idle

Donít go randomly throwing parts at it. Certainly not tps and certainly not rear O2. Iíd start with checking manifold pressure with a gauge

I was disappointed in car-parts.com. None of the places listed actually had the part.

Here is my old regulator.
