Re: 05 l300 no speedo and not shifting

Is the wrench light on or not? Wrench codes aren't decoded with generic readers. Either a higher end reader or GM can decode manufacturer specific wrench codes.

Replacing the output speed sensor...

Post Re: S series a/c cluch?

Chris Arnold, here's a partial reprint from the service manual;

Compressor Clutch
The electromagnetic clutch engages the compressor when the A/C button is depressed. The clutch consists of a...

Re: Cooling Fans Run After Engine Swap

Changed 2.2L engines (equal swap?) and relay box? Do you mean the engine fuse box?

Under normal circumstances, cooling fan operation runs when coolant temps reach a temperature above boiling...

Re: A/C - Mildy Cold/Luke Warm at idle - OK at Speed

An evacuation is an evacuation, period. It doesn't matter whether its a full system like yours requiring removing refrigerant to replace the scroll valve or an empty system after repairs are made to...

Re: A/C - Mildy Cold/Luke Warm at idle - OK at Speed

1-You did not suffer an abrupt refrigerant loss. Abrupt means catastrophic as in front end crash at speed where the ac system ruptures, spewing refrigerant, oil and dye in an explosive fashion....

Re: How long will factory AC leak dye be detectable?

No one has ever proven ac pressure switches as failure points because no one knows how it works. Basically, the pressure sensor is calibrated to stay closed between 40-400 psi. Ac operating pressures...

Re: Doors unlock

Changing the ignition lock cylinder should not affect how doors lock or unlock as the bcm goes by the ignition switch to determine when to lock or unlock doors. The ignition switch may be the problem...

Post Re: Door lock

The body control module (BCM), sitting on top of the glove box controls many things the engine control module (ECM), airbag module, abs/tc module and transmission control module doesn't. The bcm is...

Re: A/C - Mildy Cold/Luke Warm at idle - OK at Speed

Major parts replacement (compressor, condenser coil, drier, evaporator coil) requires make-up oil to balance what was removed. Since you're not replacing the compressor, do not add any oil unless oil...

Re: Sourcing caliper bracket bolts?

As mentioned, caliper bolts are the ones for the caliper to slide on hence the long unthreaded portion. Caliper frame bolts are larger diameter grade 10.9(?), available online from two places or...

Post Re: S series a/c cluch?

It's rare to impossible for the diode to short or open and have the clutch coil blow from thermal overload. The thermal fuse in the coil opens from overheating, not current. Overheating clutches can...

Post Re: Ignition Lock Cylinder bracket assembly ?

Does the ignition cylinder bind or feels very loose when turning it that it interferes with everyday use? If not, it might be better to leave well enough alone. If there's a need to full in the...

Post Re: How long will factory AC leak dye be detectable?

Dye is mixed into refrigerant oil. In ac systems, refrigerant, oil and dye circulate in a closed loop. Dye never evaporates or fades in a closed system. However, once damage occurs, this pressurized...

Post Re: 07 Ion A/C problem: only one vent is cold. Bad recirc door actuator?

Waxing on about a possible refrigerant leak, I lost sight of the possibility of the temperature door not traveling the full amount, creating warmer than desired temps by mixing in more heater airflow...

Re: 2006 Ion 2.2 ECU Tune?

You'll hardly find anyone here serious about tuning a 2.2L Ion. That's what a 2.0L engine with supercharger was made. If you try, you might find other GM sites with the same 2.2L ecotec engine and...

Re: 07 Ion A/C problem: only one vent is cold. Bad recirc door actuator?

The temperature door for a manual ac/heat system is just a second door. Manual temperature selection uses a cable to adjust the door selecting cold, warm, hot air whether ac is used or not. I'm not...

Re: 07 Ion A/C problem: only one vent is cold. Bad recirc door actuator?

Re: 2000 Sl2 AC issues

Your ac lost refrigerant. It leaked out somewhere. Dye and oil leak out and leave markers identified with an inexpensive uv light. The two service valves provide samples of dye and oil. They can be...

Re: 2002 SL1 - How do I recharge the A/C system

Your system leaked out long ago with r12 if it was never converted to r134a. One way to know if your system was converted from r12 to r134a - the two fittings of r12 systems are screw on exterior...

Most drawings for the low coolant switch are drawn as closed with full coolant. The circuit basically connects ground to the body control module monitoring coolant level. When coolant falls below the...
