Re: Transmisson Backlash and AC Clutch

Hillarious or not, it is the situation we face as our cars age and, depending upon what kind of mechanical repair becomes necessary, I know that I'm facing it with mine. :xeye::|

Re: Clunking and rattling front and back 2002 l300

Why didn't you state this in the post regarding "Very loose steering?" Tyson, your steering problem and what you're discussing here are to some degree related. Avoid creating too many thread over...

Re: Very loose steering

In general, the rack and pinion gear has the greatest impact on the feel of the steering. The fact that the steering feels differently during turns, one side vs. the other, may suggest an internal...

Re: Doors unlock when put in drive

This issue is most likely related to your door lock problem in the post which was started on 7/13. You should continue that thread instead of starting a new one as it is not helpful to have more than...

Re: Cooling Fans Run After Engine Swap

I want to be sure that I'm understanding you correctly. Did the engine installed come from a 2003 L-Series to a 2001 L-Series?
Further questions:
1) How long has this engine been in the car?
2)...

Re: Doors unlock

FWIW, I think that you may have identified where the problem is originating from, but I could be WRONG.

Questions:
1) Did you set your car's door locks to automatically lock when the car is in...

Re: Inherited an Aura, preventative maintenance

Welcome to SaturnFans, JimRice! I hope that you'll be sticking around here for the "ride"!

As one can see from my login information I do not own an Aura, but I was really interested in them when...

Re: Questions about breaks

At this point a flare wrench (line wrench as it was referred to at my dad's businesses) wouldn't be of any help as the hex on the fitting is too badly damaged. Sadly, vice grips - or perhaps Channel...

Re: Questions about breaks

You've not stated which of your cars is the one being repaired. Is it the SL1 or the SL2? Does the car have ABS? Does your new master cylinder match up in size and with brake line connection...

Re: Questions about breaks

What exactly does "broke" mean here? Although I can see the pictures on my phone I can't tell if the threads are damaged. Is that the problem? Or is the damage you're referring to regarding the...

Re: Questions about breaks

Please be as clear as possible here. Are you attempting to install a new master cylinder? Are you using a line wrench, preferably a six point box, on the brake line fittings? (If unsure about what a...

Re: Check your spare tire!!!

You have no disagreement from me as to preferring a full sized spare tire. For the time being things are satisfactory. If the spare tire well in the sedan is actually deep enough to accommodate a...

Re: the old spark plug changing trick revisited

My FSM states the spark plug gap is .045". The torque is 15 ft-lbs. There is a warning regarding the use of anti-seize compound:

"DO NOT coat spark plug threads with anti-seize compound. If...

Re: the old spark plug changing trick

fdryer was, of course, correct. The factory recommended spark plugs are/were platinum. The originals in my car were Bosch spark plugs. The second set were AC Delco Rapid Fire platinums. Currently,...

Re: 2005 Saturn ION dies while driving and after its little colder it starts again

Although the engine is not identified by the OP it's most likely a 2.2L ECOTEC. The symptoms previously described are similar to those mentioned in the L-Series forum when a crankshaft position (CKP)...

Re: Check your spare tire!!!

The same thing happened to my space saver spare tire about two years ago and it never saw any action. I got a replacement from a Pick-Your-Part self-service wrecking yard. It was quite inexpensive.

Re: Low Coolant Level Sensor

Welcome to SaturnFans, Not jmsmth!

In 2004 Saturn changed the model name of the L-Series car to L300 regardless of engine type. It would be helpful then if you'd identify whether you have a 4...

I intentionally highlighted the words possibility and could for a reason: I may be wrong (and I probably am - that's okay, it's not a personal thing). I believed it was something to be considered.

Re: Sometimey Sedan

Again, do you have an Owner's Handbook? If you do then you will find all relay and fuse locations provided in it. If indeed your vehicle is a 2000 L-Series then look for through pages 368 thru 377....

Re: Pulling slightly right

A possibility of one tire having internal layers separating (probably at the right side) could account for the pulling which is being experienced.

Re: Sometimey Sedan

I would want to be sure that the OP is definitely referring to the ECM (which for an LS or LS1 is a PCM located on the interior firewall above the footwell on the passenger side) and not the ICM...
