Re: Exhaust coming out of oil filler?

Sorryódidnít mean to alarm anybody. I havenít ever added oil while the motor was running (and Iíve had the car for a few years). That being said, I didnít know that it was bad for it. The more you...

Exhaust coming out of oil filler?

I have a 1996 Saturn SC1 with about 147,000 miles, and whenever I open the oil filler cap, thereís a lot of air being pushed out (to the point where I canít fill it while the engine is running). It...

Re: 1996 Saturn SC1 Interior Electrical Issues

I would start with the fuses. Look on your passenger side, near where their right foot would rest. Down beside the console is a panel labeled 'fuse access.' Take it off (just held by velcro), and on...

Re: Can someone help identify this sound?

Well, that was most certainly it.

I got it all replaced and reassembled. It took me a day. The hardest part was the crankshaft bolt. I had to tie a breaker bar with an impact socket (I tried a...

Re: Can someone help identify this sound?

Well, I replaced the timing set. I haven't gotten the cover, etc back on yet as I'll have to do it tomorrow. It looks *much* tighter. The old chain had a lot of slack, and the tensioner was fully...

Re: Can someone help identify this sound?

That's what I thought. I've spent most of the day reading up about it.

I was just making sure before I go replacing the chain :)

Thanks!

Re: Can someone help identify this sound?

I checked it before I drove it home after buying it. It was on the low side, but didn't look that bad. I topped it off. I also checked today and it looked fine.

I'm about to change it, actually.

Can someone help identify this sound?

Hey everyone! Just bought a 1997 SL2. Love it, but it's a little loud. Can someone help identify this sound?

Click here for the Mp3 (http://people.clemson.edu/~jeremym/car.mp3)

It's coming from...

Re: Front End Rattle

I possibly found the culprit. In front of the wheel well is a piece of plastic that covers up a cylinder. It was very loose and if I shook it, it made a noise that was very similar to the noise I...

Front End Rattle

My 1996 SC1 auto recently developed a front end rattle when going over really big bumps. It doesn't do it while turning (unless I hit a big bump), and it doesn't do it as much (at least that I can...

Re: trunk latch

I have an electrical latch for my 96 SC1. It looks like there's a place where a cable can be hooked up, but nothing goes to it since it's electrical. I forget exactly where on it I saw it, and as I'm...

Rear Drum Brake Question

My passenger's side rear drum brake is scraping, occasionally. It's very off and on. It will scrape when I apply the brakes sometimes, and then continue to scrape for a short time thereafter. It will...

Re: ects

I guess it depends on where you get it from :-\

The Saturn dealership near me wanted $25 for one.

Autozone has pictures of the ones they have on their site--those look to be brass. Any truth...

Re: Reverse Slam Dilemma

Actually, I did some research on the warranty company. Apparently they're a scam. They basically give you the run around, requiring complete teardowns of cars on your bill at several locations (they...

Re: Reverse Slam Dilemma

Hmm...

Well, I would go to whatever shop and then make a claim, and then they basically foot the bill, minus $100 from me. I don't know if the warranty company is the one doing the diagnosis.

Reverse Slam Dilemma

Ok, so I'm facing a dilemma. Basically, I bought an automatic 1996 SC1 used awhile back. It has recently developed the reverse slam issue, and shifts hard (although not too hard) between some of the...

Re: Auto to manual swap

Well, that's not bad at all.

I recently bought a 1996 SC1 (first Saturn) and it's got about 110,000 on it and everything looks to be in good condition. I want it to last me for awhile if possible....

Re: Auto to manual swap

Just out of curiosity--does anyone have an estimate of how much this would cost? DIY, that is. Not that I plan on doing it or anything. I was just wondering.

Re: Cleaning EGR Valve (with Pictures)

I just cleaned my throttle body and EGR valve today, as it was getting stuck open and throwing an SES light.

The pintle on mine became completely stuck the first time I depressed it, and spraying...

Alright, thank you very much.

I was just wondering, because I noticed the interior looked exactly the same as mine with the exception of the door panel. I figured if there was something that...

Door Panel Question

I've been looking at pictures of Saturns lately, and I came across a 1996 SC (not sure if it was 1 or 2) that had different door panels than mine, which is a 1996 SC1. It seemed to have more modern...

Re: 1996 Saturn SC1 Interior Electrical Issues

I actually considered the car phone thing, too. My parents once had a van with one of those that mounted into the dash. They never used it--it was just there from the previous owner. But there are...

My friend calls them "Shaturns," and has for as long as I can remember. He never seemed to like them. I personally never had an opinion. I always thought they looked different in a good way, but...

Re: 1996 Saturn SC1 Interior Electrical Issues

I fixed the fuse by cleaning out the terminals with a toothbrush and isopropyl alcohol. My lighter outlet now works, and the passenger side door works as well.

On a side note, I also remounted the...
