Re: Camshaft position sensor

It was diagnosed by the OBD and assuming the car is running properly and there are no other error codes or issues (gas milage, etc) the P0341 is pretty specific.
Since it's not unheard of for the...

Re: Add oil instead of changing oil

Re: Add oil instead of changing oil

There hasn't been any proven issues with the use of SuperTech since its introduction. The only thing you find is some random person complaining about it, which you see with every brand.
I think now...

Typically the interval will be listed as 3000 mi or 6 months (whichever comes first).

Re: Losing coolant over time

The only way to look for a leak that is so small it doesn't give you any clue to it's location is with the cooling system under pressure.
The correct way to do this is with a radiator pressure...

Re: Will switching from conventional to synthetic hurt my SL2?

I switched to synthetic on a Mazda with around 95k miles and an engine with Zero external oil leaks. Three months after switching to synthetic the engine developed several oil leaks of different...

Re: Well darn, my '99 SL2 laps oil like a BMW

I can honestly say I didn't read a word of your last novel (posts) I didn't want to waste my time when I could be reading something with more substance like Everybody Poops.
I was going to suggest...

Re: Well darn, my '99 SL2 laps oil like a BMW

This is just plain ignorance. Do you know anything about automobile manufacturing? Every manufacture has recalls including Saturn which like every other manufacturer has several open recalls at any...

Re: Well darn, my '99 SL2 laps oil like a BMW

Speaking from his experience with an internet search engine.

Speaking from my experience of owning 3 BMWs (as well as family members and several friends who own BMWs all of which I work on):
3...

Re: Well darn, my '99 SL2 laps oil like a BMW

Yes, please don't because it's a ridiculous comparison.
I wasn't going to post but I knew when I saw a dig on another manufacturer that Saturn night would throw his 2 cents in. Spouting off things...

Re: I want to turn my old 99 SL1 into a sleeper... kind of.

This is the best approach for performance and probably cost but I have never converted a Saturn. You would want to put in a manual trans for max acceleration and range plus the gears give you a...

Re: fuel economy, range , fuel gauge accuracy

The fuel gauge in our cars are not very accurate, it just gives you a general idea of how much gas you have left.

Re: 02 SL2 driving impressions

Both of these are very valid points. I have reached for a horn button several times and never hit it when I needed it. The turning radius is insanely bad. I've owned 70's muscle cars with a smaller...

Re: Will Saturns be classic cars?

Ramblers have become popular since they are one of the last affordable ways of getting into a 60s-70s era car without spending a fortune. Unfortunately they had/have the reputation of being an "old...

Re: Does a top-sider vacuum oil changer work on SL2 automatic?

I use this method on my BMW and it works great (The first time, I did pull the drain plug to see how well it worked)
We tried it once on a friend's Audi and there was a baffle which prevented the...

Re: Parasitic Drain - electrical system

It only takes a few minutes to figure it out. Put a meter in series between the (+) terminal on the battery and its cable and start pulling fuses 1 by 1 and look for the change on the meter.

Re: Hitch for Bike rack

I prefer this type of rack as well. However, I only use the hitch for this purpose (no towing). I also add a strap hooked on the forward part of the trunk lid (by the window) to the rack itself to...

A coolant system pressure tester is one of the most valuable tools I own. It has saved me countless hours looking for the smallest of leaks as well as being able to diagnose defective radiator caps....

Re: Solder or crimp?

If done correctly either way will work well. The key is "done correctly" bad soldering technique or cheap crimpers is usually the flaw with bad connections.
