Re: What speed for absolute maximum MPG?

If I'm not mistaken, the highest torque is the best rpm to shift into the next gear. Revving the engine above max torque (in this case 2400 rpm) wastes fuel; more rpm = more fuel use. With specs...

Re: Cigarette lighter wired to ignition

My bad. trottida, you're absolutely right. I thought I was replying to Averjoe's new wiring diagram, not yours. Yours is perfect and was never in question in my mind. I neglected to direct my 'Nope'...

Re: Bad Brake Rotor Challenge

Bi-annuals may be encroaching on the debate of whether over reach by government is necessary or not. NYS requires yearly vehicle inspections for safety and emissions. While some or many may think...

Re: Cigarette lighter wired to ignition

Nope. If you're tapping off a fused line, power isn't switched at the fuse. Power is switched downstream from the fuse if the circuit has a switch, not at the fuse. Consider fuses as the safety...

Re: Bad Brake Rotor Challenge

Unfortunately, the irresponsibility of owners to properly maintain their vehicles most likely leads to accidents and when insurance examines them and determines if improper maintenance was one of the...

Re: Cigarette lighter wired to ignition

Averjoe, trottida is correct in his assessment about your wiring circuit. If the power input to relay pin 86 is hot all the time, the relay is powered up and drains power from the battery. Not good....

Re: Axle shaft removal trouble

Year and model. Some feel a simple pm without car info is all I need but ignore the fact that I don't pay attention to who's sending PMs and what car they're asking about, leaving me clueless. I have...

Re: marker lights as signal light help

In theory, LEDs do not affect circuits when designed for them as factory installations like warning lights in the instrument panel and hvac indicators for longer life than incandescent lamps. They...

Re: Axle shaft removal trouble

PM me car info and email address. I'll send the service manual procedures for driveshaft removal. Service manuals use drawings and not very detailed but do mention using a prybar in the appropriate...

Re: marker lights as signal light help

Are you aware that they also cut bare wires when pinching them into the sharp deep 'V' section of the split in the metal connector? If oversize wire gauges (more wires than can fit) are used, some or...

Re: Bad Brake Rotor Challenge

I wonder if those states without vehicle safety inspections have higher rates of accidents than states that require safety checks? As a long time allergy sufferer, I was glad when smoking cars...

Re: marker lights as signal light help

T-taps are only as good as the person familiar with its purpose and how they're used. If used incorrectly, the worst case is it may look right but not electrically connected. I came across these...

Re: P0401 problem can't get rid of it. Tried everything.

Keep in mind that not all replacement egr valves are alike. A few here found issues with replacements not correcting the error code and found only the OEM egr valve works. Whether or not the...

Re: P0401 problem can't get rid of it. Tried everything.

1-After cleaning out passages and running the engine without the egr valve in place, does the engine rev up and bounce off programmed rev limits (4k or 4.5k rpm)? When the engine reaches rev limits,...

Yes, the 60 amp EPS fuse is in the engine fuse panel. The 2 amp EPS fuse is on the bcm, under the instrument panel, center console area. There's no way to test the DC motor in place. There is a...

Re: Cold stalling and poor idle

Well, it looks like compression isn't an issue. Move on. Whatever's causing the intermittent cold engine running problem is hiding somewhere. Fuel, injectors, wiring, maf sensor, map sensor,...

2-Was this car in an accident with front end damage?

Re: Newbie here. SW2 a/c failure.. what are my options?

The drive belt turns all the time so the AC compressor is either not turning or turning. The way to tell when AC is turned on - look at the center portion of the compressor. Is it turning or not...
