Re: HELP Accidentally Cracked Fender

I can trump that story....

I had to do a wheel bearing on my SL. The wheels I have on there for the winter comes from an Ion, which has a hub bore that is maybe 57 instead of 57.1.

So they go...

Re: Annual Angst

There is nothing wrong with my 22 year old Saturn, except that it's a 22 year old Saturn. Sure I can do most of the repairs it ever needs, but what I've realized is the time it takes to do all the...

Re: What did you do to your S-Series today...

Today I removed the ECM that I installed yesterday because the 99 ECM won't play nice with the 95 injectors I have in the motor. It was a fun task outside with the temps well below 0 this morning...

Re: The domino effect on brakes -a cautionary note!

I just did the rear brake shoes and drums on my 98 S series. Was going to do the wheel cylinders too but like your car the fasteners are all rusted into place and rounding. Of course the brake...

Re: 99 ECM into a 98 SL with a 95 DOHC 5 spd

The ecm came from a car that had CC, could it not be working because of using an ecm meant for a automatic on a 5 spd car?

I will find and install the correct injectors for my setup. Luckily the...

99 ECM into a 98 SL with a 95 DOHC 5 spd

OK! So today I installed the ECM from a 99 S-Series DOHC automatic into my 98 S-Series with the drive train from a 95 DOHC 5 Spd.

When I first did the swap with the 95 ECM I noticed was that...

Re: She's Lookin' Pretty Good, eh??

I like the angle of # 2, but I like the clarity of #3.

Amazing car either way!

Re: Cold start after 6 months storage

So I decided to go all out and pulled the plugs, put oil down the cylinders and primed the oil system. I figured at the same time I could check the compression while I got everything all lubed up. ...

Re: Looking for new wheels- let's talk size

I have 205/55/16's on alloys from a Saturn Ion. My car is lowered an inch and a half on H&R's. The tires are a bit too big but that's what the rims came with and they only rub turned all the way...

Re: '98 SC2 "Trophy" Car - $11,500

Wow, you were lucky! Mine leaked like heck. Of course once I got a lovely metal cover put on it decided to leak from somewhere else. :p
Good old Satty....

Re: Cold start after 6 months storage

Ya that's what I was thinking.

Everything should be covered in a nice thin coat of clean oil from what I understand, and it's not like I'll drive it hard as soon as it starts. Will probably let...

Cold start after 6 months storage

I'm about to start a Saturn that has been sitting for exactly 6 months. It was put away for the winter with a full tank of non ethanol fuel and fuel stabilizer.

The motor oil and filter was...

Re: '98 SC2 "Trophy" Car - $11,500

My guess would be 300 lbs.

And of course it would have to be an automatic, so it's even a bit heavier.

Re: Engine cradle still good? How to keep it that way?

Mine looks the same as yours and I just keep it soaked in rust proofing oil.
I also inspect it 2x a year to make sure it stays safe.
It's been 5 years, no problems, but I am starting to look...

Re: plugs and wires

Breaking small clips is all par for the course when working on a 20 year old Saturn....don't sweat it!

Replace them with zip ties.
Car part stores have very similar clips too.

Re: End of the line for Junk Yards

I have to drive for an hour to get to a yard that has any S series.

I think it's getting to the point where we have to buy our own parts cars if we have the storage.
There was one near me and...

Re: Seen on Jalopnik- Thoughts?

I love it. The only thing I don't like is the '1.9' and Saturn badge on the trunk lid.

Re: What did you do to your S-Series today...

Mid winter tune up! A bit late I know....:p

New air filter, plugs and oil. Ran a compression test.

Re: pulsing type feeling while accelerating

Those are symptoms of a couple things:

the TPS, and maybe a partially clogged cat?

Re: Saturn Craigslist Deal of the Day!

The add says it was their grandma's car.
Red SC1 manual with 181k km on it.
Could be a nice little gas saver for someone!
Check for underside rust though....

Re: P0172 after dohc swap

Ok thanks. Good to be able to rule things out.

properly adjust fuel trims with the higher fuel pressure of the...

P0172 after dohc swap

About 2 years ago I swapped the engine, transmission and ECM from a 1996 SL2 to a 1998 SL1.

I have the P0172 (running rich) code. Found it about 6 months ago. Not sure how long it was there...
