Re: S Series Trans Cooling lines and fittings FYI

You can also remove the quick connect fittings at the transmission and replace them with hose barbs and an external tranny cooler. Hose barbs to get are 1/4" NPT pipe thread. I spent $40 on a large...

Re: oil pressure gauge

Like PlasticCarsRock said, it's better to not have a T fitting at the OPS because they can introduce problems. Engines tend to vibrate and, unless you do a good job of connecting them, over time...

Re: '07 Clutch Bleed Success with mightyvac (TM)

Of course, you have to keep the cap loose to allow air into the master cylinder - just like you are bleeding your brakes.

'07 Clutch Bleed Success with mightyvac (TM)

Hi Everyone,

Long time member here on Saturnfans. Last night I conducted a two hour google search on how to bleed the clutch on a Saturn Ion. There are two transmissions used on this car - the...

Re: Rinse out intake while on engine?

Ok, Jonny, thanks I can see that point of view.

But on the other hand people pour all kinds of chemicals in their intake, seafoam, marvel mystery oil, various intake cleaners etc. How would...

Rinse out intake while on engine?

Hi fellow saturners,

I have the fuel rail and injectors out of the engine right now ready to send them to some injector cleaner place somewhere. I noticed lots of dirt and grime between the...

Re: Ultra Lean Saturn Ion

Richard, I think your HHO generator is brilliant. That's not the point.

When you run lean on normal gas, it heats up the piston and exhaust valves quite significantly. This is because combustion...

Re: Ultra Lean Saturn Ion

Whenever you lean an engine you want to monitor your exhaust temperature so that you can stop something before burning your engine if something goes wrong. They have EGT sensors in planes.

EGT...

Re: best air filter?

I think Fram air filters are OK it's only the cheap Fram oil filters (other than the toughguard) that I've heard have caused problems due to poor quality construction.

I've been reading recently...

Re: best air filter?

Air filters become more efficient at collecting dust the longer they are in (up to a point). See this Air resistence vs miles or time...

Re: Ultra Lean Saturn Ion

richard_lyew, whenever you have the time if you could post links to some articles that helped you build your HHO generator that would be interesting... Thanks.

Re: low MPG 2003 ion 2 just purchased!

If the spray pattern from your injectors is more of a drip than a fine mist then any fuel add that helps vaporize fuel (e.g. the acetone in sea foam) would help with mileage. It also could be that...

I've heard of flushing with some diluted vinegar and driving around with it for a bit to remove lime deposits.

Re: OPS thread

I like the oil filter on this car since it is much easier to change and you can view the media without having to cut the canister open. That was one of the benefits of using a Frantz filter was a...

2006, it sounds like you've never seen a bypass filter before in your life and so I can understand all the paranoia and misconception.
I will attempt to answer all the misinformation in this thread....

BTW, remind me again why you spent all that money and time to change out the entire "wonderful" lighting system on your saturn?? It did not require modification.

Re: OPS thread

I'm having second thoughts on the oil accumulator. If I piped it in, the hose running between engine & accumulator would see at least 80 psi. My goal for all my oil mods is to stress the oil lines...
