No, do compression testing 1st before doing anything so that you don't have waste money if found bend valves or something.

The reasons I keep going on my '94 SL2 5 spd as I like dent proof polymer panels, no rust in that areas, cheaper on gas getting 40 to 46 mpg , cheaper to insured, easy to working on,reasonable...

Herkimer ?? I'm very close to your small town , 18 miles where I live LOL I seen lots older saturn Sl's still on the road in NY states. Reasons ?? cause cheaper on gas which SL's gives good gas...
