Re: What did you do to your S-Series today...

I scraped my windows. Doesn't sound newsworthy, but after driving a Dodge Ram last winter I really appreciate the low height and size of the Saturn after a frost. It is easier to park too!

Re: Antifreeze low dash warning...

Too much suspense! It came on in my '99 because the water pump was failing. My '98 has a slow leak somewhere. It was on when I bought it, and came back on a few months later.

Re: What battery are you using

I used to buy the best battery I could. Back in 2005 I was going through a phase where I was going to replace the Saturn, and the battery died at Kmart. I bump started it (manuals are awesome),...

Re: 2000 SL2 Hard Start, Dark Smoke, No codes

True, yet she has made it to 145K and 18 years! Not bad for that commute.

That is the perfect commute for an electric car.

Re: 2000 SL2 Hard Start, Dark Smoke, No codes

I'd vote ECTS. If it runs at the right temperature no need to replace the thermostat.

Re: I broke my windshield!!! :( Need advice

Back in 2003, I dropped a piece of conduit just right (or wrong I guess), cracked my windshield clear across, and made a claim on my comprehensive insurance. It was no problem. Insurance is for...

Re: Cyl 1 spark plug hole filling with oil.???

My '98 was good after a new gasket. Same problem, #1 spark plug well. Others have had issues with the plastic valve cover.

Re: Poor heat from the floor vents

Recirc works. Temperature is above 1/4 both with the new thermostat after rebuild and the old one as it came from the factory. There is plenty of heat, just not on the feet.

I drove the '98 in...

Re: not sure what button on dash near steering wheel is for

Sort of, except mine will come on if you are in low beams but have the switch in park.

Re: Radio backlight

Hey DonP,
I'm hoping that since this was only 11 years ago that you still have some pictures on your phone of this process.

Poor heat from the floor vents

When I bought my SL2 new back in '99, there was one thing that was better on my old Dodge Omni. The Omni had awesome heat on the floor - you could feel it on your feet. Today I drove my '98 SL2 for...

Re: 98 SC2 project. Drive for now, maybe rebuild later.

I have been giving lessons in the SC2 to my younger son. He likes the automatic better but he is doing well with the manual. Yesterday we had a big milestone on his hovercraft project. Our next...

Re: OEM Top Mounts Did I score?

My original frowny mount went 204,062 miles. I replaced it during the rebuild. I had no idea how bad it was.

Re: Timing Cover

The key thing with helicoils, or any tap job, is to turn the tap backwards frequently to break the chip. Oil is good too, only problem is you have to figure out how to clean out the hole when you are...
