Re: Vue 3.0 V6: Cranking longer than usual / fuel pressure

L

Sad news, our hard start issue came back. This time, its only happened after the engine has "heat soaked" for a while. For example, after parking it for twenty minutes.

Therefore, doing the...

Re: Vue 3.0 V6: Cranking longer than usual / fuel pressure

So last night I disconnected and cleaned the ground strap beneath the front driver-side headlight. Mine didn't look too bad, but there was a little corrosion. I used a wire wheel on my cordless drill...

Re: Vue 3.0 V6: Cranking longer than usual / fuel pressure

Thanks! I will take a look at that ground.

This has me thinking. When I was getting a MIL and code for cam position sensor, and subsequently replaced the sensor, I never disconnected the battery....

Re: Vue 3.0 V6: Cranking longer than usual / fuel pressure

Any updates chazberry? I'm still having this issue. We've driven at least a thousand miles since my last update with no driveability issues whatsoever, fortunately. Once started, the engine runs like...

Re: 2003 Saturn Vue V6 Timing Belt Replacement

I would also consider servicing the oil cooler o-rings. On our Vue, several years ago, the o-rings dried up and oil was leaking into the cooling system. It is a common issue. New o-rings and a new...

Re: Vue 3.0 V6: Cranking longer than usual / fuel pressure

Spoke too soon. The Vue still exhibits the extended cranking during 'hot-start' conditions. That is, you warm it up completely, then park it for a little while, then attempt to re-start it.

So, I...

Re: 2003 Saturn Vue V6 Timing Belt Replacement

Correct. There is a thread on here that details how to make your own cam-locking tool.

There will be one such locker for each bank. Each locker is constructed using a couple of fender washers, a...

Re: Vue 3.0 V6: Cranking longer than usual / fuel pressure

Things still seem to be running ok wih our vue. Startups are not abnormal. So I recommend cleaning your throttle body if you have issues like I did.

Re: Vue 3.0 V6: Cranking longer than usual / fuel pressure

No codes whatsoever after replacing the cmp sensor, correct.

Two nights ago, I did two things. I removed and inspected the backfire relief valve on the driver side of the engine. It looked fine,...

Re: Vue 3.0 V6: Cranking longer than usual / fuel pressure

far2grumpy: Thank you! You have inspired me to dig into this. I think the fuel system is okay. I am going to remove the intake and perform a throttle body cleaning along with a new air filter.

I...

Re: Vue 3.0 V6: Cranking longer than usual / fuel pressure

Like chazberry, I did the timing belt at 90k miles, a little under 20k miles ago. New tensioner, pulleys, the works.

My cam pons sensor code was p0343, I think. "High level" I think. It was...

Re: Vue 3.0 V6: Cranking longer than usual / fuel pressure

It's been a long time since I serviced the intake. The MAF could probably use a good cleaning and a new air filter would probably be appreciated.

I changed the fuel filter at ~89000 miles...

Hi Ladies & Gents!

2002 Vue 3.0 V6 (AWD)

Things have been going good with the Vue. Lately, it all of a sudden has been taking longer to get started more often than not, but intermittently.

Re: help!! L81 V6 timing belt tensioner assembly removal

Interesting idea. Does the L81 have cam one or more cam angle/position sensors? I know it has a crank position sensor. If it has a cam sensor, you would think that it could figure out the small valve...

Re: help!! L81 V6 timing belt tensioner assembly removal

Update. Engine is still running good! Seems to have better power delivery, but the butt-dyno has been known to lie.

The engine has about 90,000 miles on it and it is a 2002. The belt had signs of...

Re: help!! L81 V6 timing belt tensioner assembly removal

She's all buttoned up and running strong as far as I can tell.

On the delco kit, there are timing marks for each cam, as well as a double line for the crank @ tdc.

So let me explain what the...

Re: Air Conditioning Woes................

Yea, I suppose made in PRC doesn't always mean junk. I put in some emails to the compressor manufacturer regarding the oil specs. I'll post up when I hear back from them.

I also had a local shop...

Re: Air Conditioning Woes................

I just noticed another discrepancy. On the Compressor manufacturer's website, they specify PAG 100 oil for this compressor, yet on the compressor's label, it specifies PAG 56.

PAG 56? That doesn't...

How much oil should I use to avoid damaging the...

Re: Air Conditioning Woes................

PM sent.

Thanks for the links! I'm assuming this A/C work is similar in difficulty and complexity of replacing the thermostat and oil cooler on my 3.0 V6 ;) If it's much more difficult than that,...
