Re: 1998 Saturn SL2 won't start when parked on driveway incline

So you're telling me there's a chance?
I'm most assuredly a man,
and I have no doubt you're a woman.
Actually, I was just being silly.
I...

Re: 1998 Saturn SL2 won't start when parked on driveway incline

Okay, sounds like it's not the pump.
Next thing I'd check is the ignition control module,
which is the thing that the coil packs are attached to.
Since it's an $80 to $100 part, I'd recommend...

Re: 1998 Saturn SL2 won't start when parked on driveway incline

Re: 1998 Saturn SL2 won't start when parked on driveway incline

Have you confirmed that the fuel pump is working?
One way to check is have someone get underneath
the rear of the car while the key is turned off.
While they are listening, turn the key to the run...

Dad may be wrong on the fuel pressure.
I'm suspecting the fuel pump is about shot.
Also, what are you doing Friday night?

Re: Smoke when taking off from stop light

I've only had my Saturn about a month and a half,
but one thing I've learned is that it burns oil.
I always keep extra oil with me and top it off at every fill-up.

Re: New ignition cylinder, passlock reset not working

I went through the same thing recently.
I believe you have to do the procedure three times.

Re: Ignition Lock Cylinder WIll Not Turn

Okay, that was a friggin' ordeal.
I learned stuff about cars I never wanted to know!

Anyway, once I got it back together, I had the aforementioned flashing security light.
A quick DuckDuckGo...

Re: New Lock Cylinder

The answer is confirmed yes.
If you just leave the cylinder blank, any key will turn it.
A friggin' screwdriver will turn it.
Hell, I can use my Suburban key for the
Saturn and have one less key...

Re: New Lock Cylinder

Thanks for the responses!
Can I leave the cylinder blank?
I live in a very low-crime area,
so car theft is not a concern.
I ain't going to any locksmiths, and I can't
seem to find the previously...

New Lock Cylinder

Got me a new lock cylinder.
The old one was turned into metal
shavings, so no way to match tumblers.
Is it a game of trial and error, or can I just forget about
the tumblers altogether and leave...

Re: Ignition Lock Cylinder WIll Not Turn

Thanks for all that.
Was not aware of the infamous factory coolant sensor failures,
however when I bought this car a few weeks ago,
one of the first things I noticed was that it idles
high when...

Re: Ignition Lock Cylinder WIll Not Turn

So I gather that the filter can easier be accessed
from underneath the car when it's up on ramps.
Good to know.
Never really trusted those steel ramps,
and the plastic ones are, to me, a...

Because the oil filter is located behind a splash-guard in the passenger-side wheel well.

Re: Ignition Lock Cylinder WIll Not Turn

Thanks for all the input!
One thing I failed to mention is that I live in the country
over an hour away from a GM dealer (I've never gone
to a car dealership in my life and don't intend to start...

Re: Ignition Lock Cylinder WIll Not Turn

Thanks!
Yeah, I've already read through that and eight other threads like it.
What I'm hoping is that somebody has the solution already.
This is sort of a throw-away car, and rather than spend...

Ignition Lock Cylinder WIll Not Turn

-2000 SC1

-Cannot turn key at all,
so unable to get to accessory
position for cylinder removal.

-This is not a jiggle-the-steering-
wheel situation, it's just stuck.

Suggestions welcome.
