Re: Steering wheel controls?

Yeah, that is the biggest issue for me. I planned on buying one of these and ripping the board out and placing it on the opposite side of the cruise control with a 3D printed housing. However, you...

Re: manual swap question

You do not have to change the computer, but as you already know you won't have a rev limiter and you'll have a SES light. Apparently the engine will try to shift and act weirdly with the auto,...

Re: Steering wheel controls?

Last year I was thinking the same thing, I will tell you that the issue is running wires through the clock spring. I looked into Bluetooth devices or aftermarket steering wheel controls, however,...

Re: JP's Failing Attempts at a Tranny Swap (Log)

So it has been two months since I last posted about my oil issues and thing have only gotten worse since then. I still go through a quart a week @ 200 miles of city/highway traffic and now it looks...

Re: Saturn Craigslist Deal of the Day!

Remembered when I was going to buy an SW2 Manual here in Minnesota from a dealer and asked if they could provide photos of the rear door open showing the lower metal near where one's foot would be.

Re: Running cluster outside of car - mileage stuck?

Wow, these diagrams are really helpful! The wiki didn't go into such specifics. I appreciate you finding them for me.

So maybe my PWM switch provides a far too dirty signal for the cluster to...

Running cluster outside of car - mileage stuck?

Hello,

I have a 99 cluster that I want to run outside of the car, I found this:

I grabbed a PWM switch and found the two wires that control ignition and the speedo, I was able to get it to...

Re: Hand-brake gauge light not functioning?

Doing a little bit more research into this problem, everything in the service manual points to this diagram though I don't understand why the lo-beams turn off when the switch is activated but the...

Hand-brake gauge light not functioning?

Hey everyone,

Recently I did a manual swap on my SL2 and never needed to use the handbrake until now. The "! Brake" light on the gauge cluster does not activate when the hand brake is pulled but...

Re: What did you do to your S-Series today...

It's a well-known quality filter that works on our cars. Since I was buying the oil at Walmart it was either FRAM, SuperTech, or this one. It's worth mentioning that this shorter filter does not make...

Re: What did you do to your S-Series today...

Finished an MMO piston soak after letting it sit for 16 hours. Changed oil from 5w-30 to 10w-30 Full Synthetic SuperTech.

I've been burning 100-150 miles a quart all of a sudden. Hopefully, the...

Re: JP's Failing Attempts at a Tranny Swap (Log)

Yeah, I snagged one of these and the Ford oil filter. I plan on seeing the results of my daily commute tomorrow with the new PCV valve before I change the oil.

Re: JP's Failing Attempts at a Tranny Swap (Log)

Yeah, that's what I've been suggested too. I was thinking of snagging one of those fixed PVC vales rather than the one I have in the image. They are like a $1 near me so why not.

Any chance I...

Re: JP's Failing Attempts at a Tranny Swap (Log)

Ouch, drove a total of 50 miles and burned through half a quart.

Here is a video of it at night with a flashlight on the tailpipe, it is un-noticeable without a bright light on it and not visible...

Re: JP's Failing Attempts at a Tranny Swap (Log)

Yup so I figured out the service wrench is the upshift light, have the wiring ready and the bulb just haven't had the time to get it done.

I am hoping the engine doesn't need to be rebuilt after...

Re: JP's Failing Attempts at a Tranny Swap (Log)

Update:

Car drinks oil like it is going out of style, I have probably put in 2 quarts within the last 1000 miles. 400 miles was over 3k rpm but for the other 600 miles was city driving.

Haven't...

Re: JP's Failing Attempts at a Tranny Swap (Log)

Yeah, already hit up an AutoZone after my code reader failed to tell me anything. They didn't find anything either.

I was under the impression that the RPO codes I got from Chevrolet would mean...

Re: JP's Failing Attempts at a Tranny Swap (Log)

Found a local junkyard that had a 97 Wagon with all the same options as mine. Picked it up today and found that I still have a service light, but thankfully have a gas gauge again. Is it possible...

Re: JP's Failing Attempts at a Tranny Swap (Log)

Yeah, was hoping to get away with a one year difference. :hmm: I found a coupe somewhat on my route for my road trip that has all the correct options. Despite the coupe only having two window...

Re: JP's Failing Attempts at a Tranny Swap (Log)

Any chance on keeping the 96 PCM and altering my fuel system to accept it? I have a long drive in the next week and would love to make it with a working gas gauge and no lights.

Re: JP's Failing Attempts at a Tranny Swap (Log)

Got it all together, except for most of the interior and it works great for the most part. The only issue is that I have a gas gauge that reads "Empty" with the "Low Fuel" and "Service" lights on.

Re: JP's Failing Attempts at a Tranny Swap (Log)

Gutted the interior and went through a lot of work to replace the transmission, everything looks great so far.

One issue that I wasn't sure about is what to do with the two cables from the...

Re: JP's Failing Attempts at a Tranny Swap (Log)

Well, I ordered a majority of the parts I wanted to on RockAuto. Thankfully I start my new job at the end of this month so I can actually afford this. Plan on picking up a transmission in Wisconsin...

Re: What roof racks will fit 2002 SL1?

I went with a used Thule 400 set. The Thule 400 is pretty plentiful on the used market and many accessories work for it. I believe the Thule Kit 2060 will also fit 3g sedans but I can only guarantee...
