Re: '01 L100 white exhaust, leaking coolant

I'm not familiar with the L series (I have an SL1), but my other car is a Subaru, and the guys in the Soobie forums are "trigger happy"... and I got in the mood (replaced my soob's engine already)....

Re: Headliner compatibility

Very good point :D
I'll try to sell the idea to my wife, and see if I can convince her (she's the one driving the SL1 right now) :)

Re: Headliner compatibility

Well...

I got some fabric from Joann, but the color is slightly darker than my car's headliner... meaning I would have to do the visors as well.

The fabric I got is a very light brown (all they...

Re: Headliner compatibility

Thank you people...

The problem is with the headliner fabric, but replacing the whole thing is an interesting option IF you can find one in good condition. I paid $15 or so for the panel, which is...

Headliner compatibility

Soooo....

The headliner on my '99 SL1 is in really bad shape, with the fabric sagging everywhere. So I went to a junkyard, looked for the only decent S series headliner in the whole lot, and...

Don't be too hard with yourself :)

The car is listed for 1200me but it's a "motivated seller". I just don't want to pay too much...

Thank you for the links. I've read something about the...

Roll Eyes Quickie

Ok... I probably got your attention :)

This is a quick question: I'm being offered a used SC2 auto that looks nice except for two details:

- It's smoking a bit
- It has no reverse

Now... I...

Re: New Horn

Crap... I just realized I ended up hijacking the thread to some extent...

To the OP: as mentioned, right now I'm thinking about getting a horn from the junkyard... although considering the number...

Re: New Horn

:) Not as hard as it sounds...

What I hate is buying a car just to find someone else decided it would be nice to have exposed wires all around under the hood, or wiring stuff with the wrong wire,...

Re: change milage on a digital cluster

I'm not familiar with these clusters in particular, but I would think it should be easier to exchange the "faceplate"...

Re: New Horn

Hello people...

My '99 SL1 horn failed a few days ago as well, and I'm looking for alternatives. I would go for a Fiamm 72112/72102 but I would prefer to avoid adding wires under the hood (I like...

Re: Is it possible to install a used BCM and the car work fine?

Knowing my saturn, and from other posts, you just need to check oil consumption to know if it's really 105K. The oil consumption on my SL1 picked up at around 120K, and now (140K) needs about a...

Re: Headlight wiring problems?

If the two cables are shorted, they will behave like a single cable -what you are used to measure- or as a low-ohm resistor. Don't worry too much about that. As OldNuc said, though, disconnecting the...

Re: 1994 SL2 Electrical Issues... any help?

If most of the IP is out, I would look for a bad ground somewhere (or even a whole connector undone). The seatbelts are a pain in the lower back no matter what, so I would not spend too much time on...

Re: Headlight wiring problems?

Ok... I have not checked all the possibilities but:
Using a multimeter, and without bulbs in the holders, check for continuity between the Pink and Dark Blue cables. It looks like a short circuit...

Re: Headlight wiring problems?

The 2nd bulb you mention (driver side) is working as part of the circuit all the time, either because of a short circuit at the lamp holder(s), the wiring or the switch. Which bulb is the one that,...

Question Water pump: stamped vs cast ?

My car's water pump is about to die completely, and I'm checking alternatives. It looks like there are at least two types available: stamped and cast metal (the later being "GMB"). The price is...

Re: Which version Dremel Tool for vehicle work?

Yep... I agree. Corded, and stay with Dremel if possible. Variable speed is nice to have, too.

Right now I have a Dremel 300, after breaking the couplers on a Black and Decker and a B&D clone. The...

Re: Noob Question: SOHC to DOHC Swap?

I'm curious about what a "beat body" means on a Saturn. Was it crashed, or are the guts badly rusted?

Otherwise I would do the swap the other way around :)

Re: Exhaust backpressure?

Correct the engine mount first... If the movement is so bad at idle maybe it's bad enough to get something out of place/pinched/open under acceleration. May sound stupid but I have seen something...

Re: Clutch slipped and now it won't engage

Good to know it's something simple. However, I think you are missing a retaining clip that prevents the shaft from coming out. Did you put it back?

Re: 10mm belt tension pully bolt rounded

It's interesting nobody has mentioned using the dremel tool to create two flats on opposite sides of the bolt head. Then use a crescent to remove it.

I have had to do that a couple of times (not...

Re: "S" Series RKE Remote and Option Programing

Hello Scott,

I replied your PM already, but for the public's sake I'm adding my 2 cents here...
Mode 14 is, indeed, not an option for this car's RKE. It's more likely your RKE going south, or...

Re: Good junkyards near Ann Arbor?

Gee... this turned out much better than I expected :D
I'll make sure I pay a visit to at least a couple of these places.
Thank you all for all the information!
