Re: AC Upgrades r152a conversion

My '99 AC still works, never been touched. I fixed the AC in my 2000 Buick Century using R134a and I get 40F air out the vents. Good enough for me! When I fix my '98 SC2 air someday I'll stick...

Re: 2001 SL1: help me find a most annoying vibration

It could be busted tabs. If not now, after you take the outer skin off.

Re: How many s series owners became ion owners

I never became an Ion owner. I just kept my S Series, and eventually got a second one.

Re: P0410 help please

I cleared P0410 on my '99 during rebuild. You have to yank off the manifold as the passages will be full of carbon. Basically there are passages that go from that hole in richpin's video at 3:30 to...

Re: Electrical problem, no spark, CPS seems good, what have I gotten myself into...

Whoops - overlooked that you are Gen 3. We need one of those guys to show up.

Your throttle body is lower, I'd still look on the throttle body. Should be under that black pipe.

Look for two matching holes, on the intake, near the throttle body.

Edit: actually on top of the throttle body.

Edit 2: upper right corner of the picture....

I like the NGK coils I bought for the 98.

The 99 has coils from my FLAPS and no issues in 8 years.

Re: '98 DOHC Head Gasket Replacment

I probably would. I had that happen on my VW heads. Those were new bug heads that were defective. In that case I replaced them instead of lapping them.

Re: Newbie Question

Welcome! The #1 problem is rust. If you are still in Tennessee, likely not a problem. Here is a good checklist:

Re: Rear drum brakes, complete overhaul

If you are pulling off calipers to clean, lube, or replace them I'd do the hoses too. Cheap insurance.

Re: Rear drum brakes, complete overhaul

Very true. My particular failure was on an '83 Dodge Omni. Age is the enemy of brake hoses.

Re: Rear drum brakes, complete overhaul

Sticking calipers is one possibility. Another is bad hoses. I've had them fail such that they hold just a little pressure and the brakes get hot.

Re: Rear drum brakes, complete overhaul

Alldatadiy lists the hose to caliper banjo at 36 ft-lbs. No listing for the wheel cylinder but should be the same. My Yamaha gets by with 26 NM but it has aluminum calipers. I think I didn't use a...

Re: What did you do to your S-Series today...

They don't line up. Same issue on our 2000 Century. GM lost their mind apparently. Adjust with the drum off so you have light drag with the drum on.

I've not done it, but I'd say it should be straightforward assuming same year and another S Series.

Somewhere on the forum there is a picture that would help. There are 9 cuts, and 4 depths. I couldn't find it.
