Re: The last Saturn Astra owner.
Thanks! I've always wanted to experience a Miata, so I've been test driving the ND (4th generation) Miatas for the past few weeks. I was set on an ND2 (2019+) which has about 30hp more than the first...

Re: The last Saturn Astra owner.
Well, I'm out of the running for "last Saturn Astra owner" after trading in for this Fiat 124 Spider! Best of luck to all of you. My Astra was a great little car and treated me well for 11 solid...

Re: Emissions
I replaced the EVAP purge valve solenoid about 350 miles ago and the code has not come back, so I think it's fixed!

Re: The last Saturn Astra owner.
128,500 miles and I'm starting to get real sick of all these CEL's recently. P0496, P2138, and the battery/security combo light on startup periodically. Feels like driving a BMW or something else...

Re: Error code P2138
It's been a month and about 1000 miles. P2138 has not come back since cleaning the UEC terminals (though I'm dealing with a separate EVAP code now).

Re: Emissions
I cleared the code and continued to drive. Code came back after 100 miles or so. Cleaning seemed to help, but I'm sure there's more crud inside where I can't get to.
I came across a write-up on...

Re: Emissions
I did some testing on my purge valve using some human-sourced air supply. First I tried to blow though the valve unpowered, and I could definitely pass air through it. That's not right. So the next...

Re: Emissions
Came back a second time. I'm going to try cleaning the EVAP purge valve solenoid this weekend.

Re: Paint scheme ideas - thoughts?
Awesome! I think it will look better if you include the rear part of the rear door frames. The body colored door frame seems to interrupt your design. Please let us know how it turns out, with...

Re: Emissions
My Astra just threw P0496 this morning in traffic. I filled up with gas last night about 30 miles ago. No issues in regards to how the engine runs. I deleted the code with my reader and will report...

Re: White puff of smoke under acceleration
That's very odd. Usually white smoke means coolant, typically from a leaking head gasket. The leak could be very slow, so you may not notice much change in the coolant level.
A failing (clogging)...

Re: Error code P2138
Well it's back again. P2138 with limited accelerator pedal range on startup. Had to stop and restart the engine a couple times to make the gas pedal feel normal again. This issue is particularly...

Re: Error code P2138
I haven't tried that yet, but am skeptical since it has been over a week since the last rain. The connector going to the pedal is in good shape though.
I'll take a look at the UEC if it comes...

Re: Error code P2138
Well the throttle pedal code is back again. It happened twice more in traffic last week, so I replaced the entire throttle pedal with sensor with a genuine GM AC Delco (P/N 09193186). Rockauto has...

Re: Airflow issue? Please help.
You don't need to remove the TB, you can just remove the air pipe and push the butterfly valve open. You won't damage it. Spray some TB cleaner on a rag and wipe both sides of the valve and around...

Re: Cutting access port for fuel pump. Yes? No?
I don't see any problem with cutting an access port, as long as you're very careful not to plunge too deep with your cutting tool into the tank. This is common on many other cars. Hope the fuel pump...

Here's some more info on how to do this job yourself. I did it myself and it wasn't too hard.

Re: Astra 16" mags, studs and TPMS
I upgraded my steelies to alloys as well. You will need slightly longer lug bolts (not lug nuts) since the flange for the alloys is thicker than the steel.
Specs to shop for:
M12X1.5 28MM...

Re: Front Struts and hardware availability issues

Re: Front Struts and hardware availability issues
My experience with Demon Tweeks was a lot smoother, but only because they had the parts in stock. Order placed Wednesday, parts on my porch Monday. Luckily I did not have to deal with their customer...
