Re: Hitch for Bike rack

My brother toted with one of those racks and one day he drove into a parking structure where his bikes (his and his wifes) proceeded to get torn off the top of the car (not to mention the car...

This is new territory for me.

I want to buy a bike rack and am unsure how to go about making my 96 SL2 conform to its mounting options:

Re: Rocker arm click

You were right OldNuc

I went bombing up and down the freeway for a good 30min.

Noise went away.

Re: Code reader

I bought my Actron off of Craigslist from some person 500 miles away at a big discount. Make sure you get one with graphics capabilities. It helps a lot with the graphics to see what is going on with...

Re: Rocker arm click

Well, in terms of how loud it is...

I only backed out the garage to park the car across the street. It was loud enough for the neighbor to notice and say I needed to get some oil into the engine....

Rocker arm click

Hi guys... back for a little advice as you can see.

A few days ago I moved the 96SL2 out of the garage. I noticed a loud clicking from the cam cover.

I did not think much about the clicking as...

Re: Guess I wont be be on the road for too much longer...

Hi OldNuc,

Energy technology has made significant strides these last two years. Not so much from an EV auto technology, but from a cost of energy perspective.

It is now more cost effective for...

Re: Guess I wont be be on the road for too much longer...

Some of you more seasoned posters may remember that my main ride is now an electric Nissan Leaf meaning that I donít need to check in here nearly as often as in the past.

The Leaf is the daily...

Re: short term fuel trim

You can chase this issue for quite a long time and never find why your idle has the occasional hic-ups. My car used to do the same thing and I never quite pinpointed why. Possibilities are:
1) O2...

Re: The Last Minute!!!

Get yourself a USB laptop scanner for $20 to know if improvements can be made to your ignition burn characteristics.

I think the air filter, to a certain point, may be a waste of your money unless...

Re: Well, i dont know how you guys are getting 30+mpg...

The 154K did not get to it. The attention to detail in maintaining the car most likely is the culprit. To avoid issues and to PROPERLY check things off your list, only replace the:

Spark plugs...

Re: Catcon and o2 Sensor

I dont understand.

Your sig says you live in Palmdale. Are you moving to another state?

What did you do, specifically, when you say you got rid of the downstream cat?

Stripping everything...

Re: tires

You do know that they will affect your speedometer, odometer and thus your mpg calculations right? Not a problem just as long as you know it.

Re: New Problems

Yes lots of people have had those problems.

Don't make the mistake in thinking all are interconnected with one another.

Re: Clutch replacement with a couple pics

Did you keep in place all the dirt and grime shrouding the transmission and other parts? That stuff acts as good insulation to help keep the heat inside where you dont need it the most. :D

Re: Side gapped plugs, 5th gear swap and IAT mods

I have not done this but considered driveway tests at 2500rpm. I have no way to reliably pin the idle at 2500 without knowing my manual pinning adds or lightens the gas to maintain the same RPMs. The...

Not sure what this Rube Goldberg stuff is all about, but anyway...

You probably know this, but there is no scanner that will give you A/F for a Saturn.

I agree I have good testing luxury...

I threw all the test data out the window that was connected to the Cyl head issue. Since I understand more today than before I was able pick up after the replacement without the same...

Re: Side gapped plugs, 5th gear swap and IAT mods

I am not so sure it matters. All specific conditions come out in the STFT data gathering wash for each individuals car.

Re: Side gapped plugs, 5th gear swap and IAT mods

I have incomplete data which so far both confirms and puts into question this theory. That is, I have three MAPS that statically read 29.5inP and the remaining 7 at 29.8inP.

I have tested two of...

Re: Side gapped plugs, 5th gear swap and IAT mods

You could verify what should happen empirically with each and every change you apply. This would save you a lot of time and money.

Your actually trying to adjust MAP for 15.4:1 on the road, and...

Re: Side gapped plugs, 5th gear swap and IAT mods

I am convinced that the driveway testing data-points, points the way to peak mpg returns. It is clear that one needs to be lean, but how lean is the real question.

Those that would like to make a...
