Re: Quick update on the car & wondering how everyone's doing?

A week long? Wow. When I tried soaking the pistons, I had one that would go down fast. The rest would drop overnight. I think there was one or two that still had liquid in them. Do you keep...

Re: Post Apocalyptic Toilet Paper Scout

Shortages are caused by a few reasons.

1. People are panicking
2. People are using more of everything, because they're doing more at home.
3. The supply chain has been suddenly upset..... home...

Re: Post Your Latest Oil & Filter Change.

Where did you find this list?

Warren is who does oil for Meijer's too, which I've bought.

Re: Post Your Latest Oil & Filter Change.

I knew Amazon was marketing stuff like cables for electronics, but had no idea they were doing oil, too.

Re: Diver's side leak.... looks like ATF

Took this today at the gas station. You can see where I cleaned the ground, and then sprayed it with Fluid Film.... a little too much.

My magnet collection

I just wanted to show off my magnets :D

A lot of them are from buying truck parts, but the most recent ones have mostly been for the Saturn.

Re: EGR replacement.... becasue I need to, and I need to entertain myself.

Just a quick update.... car still seems to be running well. I checked codes when after I had run the car with no IAT (light came on). No egr code still.

Today, I finally grabbed a tuna can and...

Re: can't rid myself of P0401

Just for kicks, try disconnecting the battery, and reconnecting. I watched a ScannerDanner video, where the PCM didn't re-learn it's 0/closed voltage value until power was cut. Key-off didn't do it.

Re: Diver's side leak.... looks like ATF

I'm sure that's what he meant.... it's what I understood. I didn't even notice the mistake until you pointed it out.

Re: Diver's side leak.... looks like ATF

I got the filter changed today. I was a bit afraid I was not going to get the filter off in one piece when I looked at it from the underside of the car. It's quite rusty. I used my nylon strap...

Re: Diver's side leak.... looks like ATF

I went out and bought a gallon of new stuff. I think one of the containers in the garage is sealed. It's not old enough to be DexII, but I'd rather have new stuff, if this transmission is really as...

Re: Interesting speedo things

I just placed an order with Rockauto today, but I suspect the OP is in Canada, which may change things.

I didn't realize we had a code provided to us on this forum. I normally use one from...

Re: Diver's side leak.... looks like ATF

I just picked up a Wix 57101 at Oreilly's..... not US made anymore. It's from Taiwan. I've read about some of the issues people have with new filters. I sure hope this one works.

I haven't...

Re: Diver's side leak.... looks like ATF

I'm starting to think that filter was installed at Springhill.... The 30K change interval is for heavy service according to my owners manual, although it doesn't use that terminology. The dealer my...

Re: Diver's side leak.... looks like ATF

You guys are going to love this.... I think I figured out where the ATF is coming from.

I took the car to the carwash and sprayed the area down with a good degreaser and spent $2.00 rinsing it and...

Re: Diver's side leak.... looks like ATF

No doubt about that. My guess is that it hasn't been changed since my sister bought the car. She was the second owner, I believe. I think she bought it in 2002, If I recall correctly, it had...

Re: Diver's side leak.... looks like ATF

I pulled the air box today to see what I could see.

The upper transmission cooler hose does look like it may be leaking a bit, around the fittings, and the lower hose is rusty, so I may go ahead...

Re: Po340 that I cannot clear

I'm lost here.... reading that thread, I thought the DIS and ICM were the same thing. Also how is a new ICM better/different than a known good one?

Re: Diver's side leak.... looks like ATF

I think what I've had has been more like fill and drain plugs, not a dip stick.

Seems like a bad place for it, but I guess if they're not really expecting it to be changed why spend the money...

Re: Diver's side leak.... looks like ATF

Where is your dipstick if it's common to not see it? Having a dip stick isn't exactly common on a manual is it? I've owned a few, and I don't think they've had dip sticks.

Re: Diver's side leak.... looks like ATF

Yes, I know where the spin on filter is.... basically under the air box. I'll pull the plastic deal hanging on the fan and see if I can see anything obvious.

I had no idea the change interval was...

Re: Diver's side leak.... looks like ATF

I've never seen an engine filter like that. The flat screens with a tube are what automatic generally use in the pan, so I figured it had both. I'm not used to seeing a spin-on filter on...

Re: Diver's side leak.... looks like ATF

Ok, thanks.... I've only seen the car on a lift once, and have only been under it at home enough to access the engine oil drain plug.
