Re: clutch master cylinder/slave cylinder recommended replacments help

Let us know how it works out. Interesting that the Luk set is the second cheapest, not counting the Wagner set that is not listed for the Saturn.

Re: I'm a Saturn owner. I'm cheap and I'm proud!

I'm cheap and proud, but I joined the forums long after that thread was posted. My '99 SL2 was bought new. I invested $3000 into it and my son for a rebuild. He has put about 13K on it since. My...

Re: Radio bezel push pin alternative

The bezel in the SC2 was loose, except on the right hand side it had a 3" sheetrock screw sort of installed. I ended up doing the same thing you did, but I didn't know about the pins.

Re: Clutch and brake pedal replacement pads

Are the Vue and S Series the same?

From your picture it looks very possible.

I've done it before with ok results. If it is a disaster sand it off and do it again!

Re: New valve cover spurt leaking

I was super careful on my '98 and it still leaked. Then I swapped to a metal valve cover and it seems pretty good now. If your plastic fantastic cover is bad there is no saving it.

Re: The four L series in the driveway

Question from one of the S Series faithful - if the belt fails is the motor toast or can it be rebuilt? I saw a local LW300 for sale with a bad timing belt for cheap and I was just wondering.

Re: Seized alternator or much worse?

Kudos, sometimes that is hard to recognize. Would make a great father-son project to rebuild it.

Re: Seized alternator or much worse?

Even if the alternator seized, you should still be able to turn the crank with a wrench. The belt would slip.

My next step would be to pull the motor and take it apart. Either rebuild it or a...

Re: Roof Rack

Thankfully I bought a Thule roof rack for the Saturn years ago. I think that it would not be impossible to fabricate a new set of clips out of 4130 and heat them up to bend them. I went a decade...

Re: Wix 33731 fuel filter

From memory, that looks like the one I put on my '99. I assume the rubber plug is required as part of the manufacturing process. You could do a post-mortem on the old one and report back. Maybe...

Re: Timing cover removal

1) take the bolts out.
2) go back and take all the bolts out.

Did you get the ones in the middle of the cover?

Re: Is the starter on 1991 SL-2 hard to get to?

The fuel filter was easy to swap too. Had I known I would have done it long ago. You need a new mechanic if you want to keep the car!
