Re: Does my 2000 SW2 have ABS

TC requires the ABS system to function.
Exception:
'91-'94 5spd's did NOT have TC even with ABS.

TC button on 3rd gens is harder to find than on 2nd gens; not that it's actually hard to find...

Re: Replacing coolant, distilled water, tank overflows

Hate to be the one to point out the obvious but...

Where, exactly, do you expect the overflow to go with no overflow tank for the overflow to go into?
It's a pressurized system that (when not...

Re: Does my 2000 SW2 have ABS

'98-'02 had no rear disc option; only drums.

'91-'97 SC2's w/ABS got rear disc
'91-'97 SL2's probably got rear disc by default w/ABS
SOHC's I don't think had the disc option (though they should...

Re: Question about suspension compatibility

There's probably a strut change that makes the '91-'95's not identical to '96-'02 but they're still compatible.

The struts are probably shot anyway, I found the S-Series to be light enough to pass...

Re: windshield scratch removal ?

Ended up being moot...had an ID-10T issue removing the 5spd knob so the local windshield replacer fixed it right up for ~$200.

I've since seen videos of people managing to wet sand & polish the...

Re: Cleaning ignition coil pack?

'96-'02 will work but not only are '00-'02's more unreliable...they're harder to remove from the car. You'll see when you get there, unless someone else posts a picture of the stupidity.

Re: Shock Absorbers

Same style front & rear but not identical units. Same unit left & right for each end.

I think Monroe is the only quality quick-strut manufacturer for the S-Series and last time I was paying...

Re: Power Requirement for SL radio

It only has about 10w max output so...any speaker above glorified headphones would work fine. Pretty much anything you can find either in the free pile or the under $5 bin (assuming used items). I...

Re: Cleaning ignition coil pack?

2 coil packs sit on top of the ICM, the bolts pass through the coil to secure the assembly to the block. JY's often will charge you for 1 item if you leave the coil packs on the ICM...3 for the price...

Re: Cleaning ignition coil pack?

Depends on what your JY charges, the ones local to me I can get loaded ICMs for under $50 (ICM w/Coils).

ICM's are '91-'92, '93-'95, '96-'02*

*'96-'99 don't have the idiotic bolt down plug wire...

Re: Oil change - Added too much...drain some?

Drained 2qts out of one once to get it down to the full mark. Smoked like a diesel at city speeds, didn't notice it at highway. Bought the car cheap & at night, didn't check the dipstick until I got...

Re: Cleaning ignition coil pack?

In my experience coils are nearly bullet proof while ICM's are crap. Not that either are failure prone, but if you're having spark issues blame the ICM before the coil packs.

I ran coils from a...

Re: Power Requirement for SL radio

1amp should turn it on and work fine on "very low" volume, but for reasonable listening you should get a 5-8 amp power supply. Feel the brick after a minute or two, if it's warm or worse-HOT, it's...

Re: 97 sl1 ac problems

The A/C is controlled by the PCM, all the button does is beg the PCM to give you A/C. If the light doesn't come on, the PCM has decided (mainly on the high-side pressure switch reading) that you...

Re: Installing a Solar Battery Charger

If you want to use a smaller ring terminal on your add-on wires...use the connection at the fuse box rather than the battery. Pull the screw out, insert the 'new' wire then insert the battery cable...

Re: 2002 SL won't pass smog with OBDII fail

Clogged ports is pretty rare but also pretty much the only cause of P0401. It sounds like you have VERY clogged EGR ports, and while you did a good job of cleaning it out there's bound to be much...

Re: 96 sl2 1.9 DOHC 5spd rev limiter

If you've the stock PCM, the rev limiter is 6750rpm +/-50rpm (automatic's are closer to 7000).
Swapping to a MP2 will give you the same 1st gear but longer 2nd and 3rd gear...not sure how many...

Re: 2002 SL won't pass smog with OBDII fail

If the engine doesn't hit the neutral rev limiter (roughly 4000rpm) on it's own, without help from you with the gas pedal/throttle, with the EGR valve removed when you start it up the passageways are...

Re: Headlight bulb replacement?

According to the links I posted they're the same color temp as standard bulbs (3200k), not sure where you see they're yellow.

Standard bulb wattage:
9005 = 65w (high beam)
9006 = 55w (low beam)...

Re: Headlight bulb replacement?

I put off-road H3's in my Subaru, stock is 60w/55w and the weaker ones that just burned out were 100w/80w (the ones I have now are 130w/90w). Only time I had an issue was when the same cop was in the...

Re: 02 sc2 leather seats

I scrapped a '87ish Porshe 944 because it required seats (amazing sunroof seals...lol) and the yard price started at $400; ebay was nicer at $300 but they wanted a bit over $100 to ship it.
Wanted...

Re: PCV very nasty

lol

Aluminum valve covers are the best cheap upgrade you can do to an S-Series, unfortunately only '91-'98's can do the swap economically as '99-'02's require a head swap and all the fun that...
