Re: Changed valve body with updated still limp mode

Trans code would show as 11 on the SES then flash the coolant light in the same manner to get transmission codes. Not sure why yours is showing a couple of transmission only code numbers unless...

Re: Diver's side leak.... looks like ATF

People can't be bothered to check the fluid level in a manual transmission so they don't realize they all come with one. The S-Series one is "buried" under the battery box, totally reachable from the...

Re: Diver's side leak.... looks like ATF

I was going to say...the MP6/MP7 case is virtually identical to the MP2/MP3 case and doesn't have any room for a pan.

What RA is listing as the internal filter looks more like it goes on the oil...

Re: Transmission swap

Mechanically they swap '91-'02.
Electronically it's more like '91-'94 and '95-'02.

DR has the gear ratio's listed but the year range's are fubar...

Re: Diver's side leak.... looks like ATF

If the diff pin was loose enough to crack the transmission case, it'd have made some kind of noise before/during/after.

I'd start with giving the trans filter a spin, should be torqued on the same...

Re: Manual window regulator compatability

From what I've found the people running junkyards are just smart enough to run the cash register, but asking them to run a computer let alone email on a computer is just asking far too much.

I'd...

Re: 94 SL2 HCE Foggy glass inside

Try the A/C button. Doubtful it'll work as '90's era GM A/C wasn't worth installing any more than 90's era GM ABS but A/C is a great way to remove moisture when it actually works.

Re: Please help - need idle pully stuff

If it's broken off like this it *might* be fixable with modern epoxy compounds.

Re: Please help - need idle pully stuff

Fairly common when the idler pulley bearing fails or some chucklehead goes full ugga-dugga on the bolt. There's no spacer for the pulley, just a boss thats machined out of the TC cover for it to ride...

Re: Rear suspension bolts

I've taken apart worse, without heat. May not have been "factory safe in a crash" to reuse but they torqued up fine.

I'd go with Fastenel for replacement bolts. They don't have to be 100% matching...

Re: 1999 yellow SC2

If the underside isn't rotted out, finding & swapping a motor is too easy to junk the car over.

I was under the impression that only the '01's were black & yellow leather on the inside; if that...

Re: Control Arms Replacement - Tips & Tricks wanted

Rubber bushings only have so much "swing". If you do the dumb thing and tighten them with the suspension at full droop then they only have about 1/2 a swing before they bind up and cause a problem.

Re: 15" rim options?

Any S-Series wheel fits any S-Series so you'll have more luck searching for stock wheels by just "Saturn" rather than "Saturn SL2". Even when the cars were new people couldn't tell the difference...

Re: Shifter bushing options and the bushing at the trans

That plastic Dorman bushing is worthless (wasted $20 @ napa for one, it broke in half as soon as it touched the shifter) and the Stainless one breaks the cable end off forcing you to be stuck on the...

Re: Alignment Shim - minus what degrees?

Front & Rear camber use bolts, rear toe use's bolts. What are the shims good for then? These aren't useless Toyota's that need shims sandwiched between the bearing face and hub to change the...

Re: Alignment Shim - minus what degrees?

There's nothing on the S-Series that those will do anything useful for. Get the bolts, those will actually do something.

Re: APEXI SAFC 5* Install

Looks like the tach signal comes from the '6x Ref' line on the ICM. Pin "B" on the 6-pin connector, a white wire. Circuit 121B from the ICM to fuse box then 121C from the fuse box to the cluster. Pin...

Re: APEXI SAFC 5* Install

Pretty sure there is no signal on OBD-I to/from the PCM for RPM. Spark is controlled by the ICM and the signal wire runs directly from that to the cluster.

Should have spent the extra $50ish on...

Re: How long to fix serpentine belt in SL2?

The 1991 engine mount is nothing like the '92-'02 engine mount. Looks to be in the way of getting the serpentine belt far more intrusively than the '92-'02 mount.

Re: 2001 Saturn Sc2 complete exhaust

Yes. Cat-back should be fine/identical for both emission levels and both engines.

The downpipe shape is, on the DOHC, unique to the emission level. The overall length is the same but the angle on...
