Re: Mileage dropped off a cliff...

Have taken 2 long trips with the normal amount of city driving since the dive in mileage and it's turned around on it's own so I didn't have to work on anything. It went from 19 to 23 to 30 MPG over...

Re: Mileage dropped off a cliff...

Thanks for the input. Very interesting story Fdryer...

Someone told me not long ago that a '03 is going to have the anti-siphon but I think I'll test it too, just to be sure.

But 20% is rather...

Mileage dropped off a cliff...

'03 L200, 2.2 L, DOHC

Wondering about the fuel mileage I've just noticed. I've put just over 2K miles on the car since I bought it with 65,000 miles on the odometer. Up until yesterday, I'd been...

Re: '03 L200 tranni surge issue...

Remembered to try this today, and with just light accel, shifted normally. But a couple hours before that test, it shifted normally with a more aggressive throttle too.

So now I'm thinking it's...

Doesn't apply to a '03 Saturn L200. Check your source.

Re: '03 L200 tranni surge issue...

No SES or wrench lamp as of yet. I think from reading the other threads I found about the issue that I'm safe for many thousands of miles. My memory is long and I try to keep links to things that...

Re: another old trick: the old dim switch source trick

First hand experience beats my guesstimation of what could happen every time.

I've seen blackened and carbonized dash panel boards, melted light sockets, deformed instrument cluster frames due to...

Re: another old trick: the old dim switch source trick

Beware, BEWARE of leaving the dash lights on bright all the time if you tend to drive at night a lot. Reason is the bulbs last many more hours (typically) if they are at 75% or below. The other...

Re: '03 L200 tranni surge issue...

Thanks for the info. Gathering info atm, and I had a tranni anomaly this AM here in the desert where it has been fairly warm, so not cold related. Car really wanted to rev high, up to 3K RPM before...

Re: '03 L200 tranni surge issue...

Thanks for the link and info.

One question...Is the PCS replacement procedure for an L300 similar to my L200?

Anyone have a link to a write up? Or a video? I searched on youtube but didn't...

Re: '03 L200 tranni surge issue...

So no easy to diagnose and replace coils then? Except maybe the PCS? Where is that located anyway?

Re: '03 L200 tranni surge issue...

Doh! Forgot to mention it's an AT.

When I'm slowly accelerating from a stop, or when it's auto shifting from 2-3, without pressing harder on the gas pedal, it reaches a point where the car surges,...

'03 L200 tranni surge issue...

Is a tranni surge when doing an ordinary accel from stop okay with this model? 1st to 2nd, 2nd to 3rd. Is it something I should fix immediately, or can it wait?

My '01 Saturn SL1 did have the...

Re: Saturn Sc1 1998 stalls out on highway

I once had to take a shop to court about excess charges when the fuel pump they installed, turned out to be used and failed again after a couple months. He admitted it was used, so I won. He'd...

Re: '03 L200 Wiring Question...

Not exactly...what's going on there is that it's being wired up to PULL a trailer. What I'm doing is wiring my sedan up to be TOWED by an RV, all 4 wheels on the ground.

My SL1, I did the whole...

Re: S series are getting harder and harder to find

I hear ya, but I asked the junk yard counter guy about why they had so many but no Saturn junkers in their yard, and he said they bought the ECMs (via a part exchange) from a big yard near a big city...

Re: Does this price make any sense?

Hahahaha! Oh, you're serious? You're kidding.

I've never had to replace an AT. But I've had to replace several clutches and throw out bearings. And helped friends or relations do it too. Hate that...

Re: Does this price make any sense?

Absolutely WOULD pay extra for AT. Manual tranni's are from the '20's. AND 85% of owners have no idea how to drive one. And it's been that way for decades. If I had $10 for every time I was held up...
