Re: Trim Repair

I've repaired those numerous times with either plastic welding ($15 from harbor freight) or epoxy. The repairs usually only last a year or two. To really get to it you need to remove the bumper...

Re: How many s series owners became ion owners

I was in the same boat earlier this year when I couldn't find anymore decent S-series around Pittsburgh. So I looked at a few low miles Ions (50-65,000 miles). I was shocked at how bad they...

Re: Son's 98 SL2

Just curious, what exactly do you mean by that? Do that grind it down slightly to make sure it fits flat?

Re: Leaky oil cooler line on new radiator

Went with a Spectra Radiator which had a much better design than the first one which was Denso.

Re: Leaky oil cooler line on new radiator

I took it apart an am would have to guess they either forgot an o-ring/seal or some sealing compound. The female flare nut adapter just has straight threads going into the radiator and doesn't...

Leaky oil cooler line on new radiator

Ok, looking for advice on which way to go with this. I just installed a new Denso radiator in my 2007 Vue 3.5l. After a test drive I found it was leaking transmission fluid where the transmission...

Re: AC Compressor Oil

I was just shocked since I'd always read the compressor holds about 50-60% of the systems total oil. Hypothetically, if you were replacing just the compressor from a known working one (ie, not oil...

AC Compressor Oil

Quick question, I'm replacing everything but the condenser in my Vue after my son got into a fender bender with it. I flushed the condenser and am planning on putting in the full 7oz of AC oil that...

Re: Front end clunk has me stumped

Today I replaced the faulty Mevotech control arm with a Moog. when I took out the control arm, with just a light tap the bushing dropped right out from the arm. I replaced both the right and left...

Re: Front end clunk has me stumped

I did want to provide some further follow-up in hopes it may prevent someone else from doing what I did which probably caused the issue with my control arm moving along the control arm bushing.

As...

Re: Front end clunk has me stumped

I finally got under the car today, and found the problem. I had the car up in the air raising the wheels one at a time to re-torque the control arm. Did the first one by loosening the bolt, then...

Re: 2002 Saturn sl2 expansion valve , ac help.

I have an ac sealer question. I know the stop leak ones are bad, but are the ones that just say they seal leaks in rubber seals and hoses ok, since I think they just contain seal conditioners?

Re: Front end clunk has me stumped

I definitely tighted the control arm bolt with the car in the air and the wheels off. I guess I could try to put the car up on ramps and tighten it. That seems like the easiest thing for me to...

Re: Front end clunk has me stumped

Thanks everyone for the great ideas. We're due for some cold rain for the next few days in Pittsburgh, but I hope to get a look at it by the weekend.

Two questions:
1) When people say to...

Re: Front end clunk has me stumped

Very interesting. I always thought it was a sold steel bar. I could see how my torquing those sway bar nuts could weaken them further. I'll definitely get under there and check the sway bar. ...

Re: Front end clunk has me stumped

Iteresting that you say that. I did find something odd in the factory manual when working on the bolt that holds the control arm to the subframe. I found it odd that it gave a torque for the...

Re: Front end clunk has me stumped

I replaced the entire arm that holds the ball joint, so the ball joint is brand new.
Thanks for the idea on the strut mount at the top.

Re: Front end clunk has me stumped

Do you mean at the top mount where the three strut bolts come through at the top? I'll check them. Would tightening them up be enough to keep them from moving?

Front end clunk has me stumped

So my 2000 SL1 automatic with 75,000 miles needed a front wheel bearing before my son went on a trip at the beginning of March. To be on the safe side I decided I'd replace both sides. And while...

Re: 2001 Saturn Auto Transmission Filter - How tight is too tight?

I've had similar experiences two of my SL1s. I followed the rule of trying not to over tighten, only to find it dripping several weeks later. From then on, I tighten the transmission filters as...

Re: Subframe Rust

If it were me, I'd wire wheel the rust and spray some sort of rust reformer and paint on it to try to slow it down. Then I'd just live with the clunk you are hearing unless a shop tells you its a...
