Yep. Free 'loan a tool' program at the major parts stores. They put a 'hold' equal to the cost of the tool on your credit card (or take a cash deposit, I suppose) and remove/refund when you return...

seems like a lot of work to save 5 lbs, lol. You can save that much by driving with one less gallon of gas in the tank.

If you decide to remove it, just cover the pigtail to protect from water...

Forgot to update - per post 5 in the link, I heated the pulley in the oven @ 250F - it says to do it for about 45 minutes but I figured half an hour or so should be plenty. Wrong, would not go back...

Just a theory . . . P0172 only sets after the PCM runs a number of basic functionality checks on sensors and then tries to set your fuel trims.

that code is one of the harder to diagnose/fix.

These engines tend to run slightly rich to begin with, so it may not take too much to trip the code. And sometimes it is a combination of things...
