Re: A/C blows warm air

I did not have the manifold gauges connected to the low side. Only the high pressure gauge was connected to the high side. I fed refrigerant into the low side using a cheap hose with inline gauge. ...

Re: A/C blows warm air

I fed it into the low pressure side. I did not close the valve between the can and the low pressure port. It was open until I shut the car off, closed the valve, then disconnected the hose from the...

Re: A/C blows warm air

Yes, both valves were closed (third line was connected to itself via a T-fitting). I tried another can of R134a just to see if 45 psi is a threshold, and it didn't help. I connected the can and the...

Re: A/C blows warm air

Read the instructions. Performed both a static test (engine off) and a performance test with the engine running at 2000 rpm, A/C on max cooling. I am reading 45 psi on both the low and the high...

Re: A/C blows warm air

I picked up a manifold gauge set this afternoon but it got too cold here to test. It is only about 48 degrees right now. Once it warms up again I'll get the pressures from the high and low side...

Re: A/C blows warm air

I still appreciate talking through this. At this point, the system is not functioning and I would like to try to find the problem even if I have to get someone else to repair it.

Low side...

Re: A/C blows warm air

Yes, the center of the compressor turns when the A/C switch is turned on (or the defroster is turned on).

Re: A/C blows warm air

FD,
Thanks for the info, but I have no evidence that there is a leak. With the variable displacement compressor, the compressor may cycle with low refrigerant. (Won't cycle normally... just...

A/C blows warm air

I need a little help diagnosing an air conditioner problem. (2002 L100)

The A/C blows warm. I assumed that it was due to a leak and hooked up a hose with gauge and a can of R134a to the low...

Re: Wanting opinions about Saturn L series cars

I have a 2002 L100 (with the 2.2 liter 4-cylinder) that I bought new. It now has 146,000 miles and it has been an excellent car.

This is the only one that I have experience with but over 8...

Re: Subwoofer for L100 in factory position

After a little more tuning, I dropped off the high pass filters and I like it better.

Re: Subwoofer for L100 in factory position

Update:

I have tried a few woofers in the position in the rear deck. Basically, the volume of the trunk is too big for a true subwoofer.

My car has a sunroof and when I open the roof with...

Re: P0300, sever shuddering and low power

It only took me 2-3 miles of driving to kill the converted and melt both O2 sensors.

Re: Replaced PCS and trans pressure switch.

What were the symptoms that caused you to replace the pressure control solenoid?

Re: Service engine soon light: P0440

I replaced the vent solenoid on Saturday and reset the code and so far it hasn't come back. (100 miles of driving or so.) We'll see if it lasts!

Re: Service engine soon light: P0440

Update: The code keeps re-appearing after approx. 100 miles of driving. It now has a new gas cap and a new vent line to the gas cap. I'm still getting a P0440.

Going to replace the vent...

Re: Transmission replacement

After driving for a few days, I still had the shudder and jittery shifts from 1st to 2nd. I replaced the throttle position sensor this week, and that seems to have fixed it.

Re: Another instrument cluster dimmer question

The dimmer control absolutely sucks on the L. Mine has no mechanical resistance so it just rolls freely. After driving for a days, the dash lights will be unusually dark because the roller just...

Re: Cat replacement advice needed...

Do you actually have bolt flanges on the current cat on your car?

These cars come (at least my 2002 did) with a cat that is welded to two pipes. Just behind the catalytic converter is an O2...

Re: Muffler assembly cost????

That isn't a terrible price. The muffler usually gets small holes in it on the bottom. If you are lucky, the muffler can be detached from the pipe that goes to the resonator. NAPA carries a...

Re: Transmission replacement

I drained and refilled it last Thursday, and the tranmission has been shifting better every time I've driven it since then. Dexron III seems to be the way to go.

Re: L200 2.2 2001 hard shifting weirdness

Some people around here have had bad throttle position sensors. I am just about to replace mine due to some shifting weirdness too.

I have not had the same experience with the fans, but I have...

Re: Tire Noise

There are a few things that come to mind. There is a sheet metal shield behind the brake rotor that can get bent and drag on the rotor. This will sound like a scraping noise.

Is it tire noise? ...

Re: 2002 L Wagon fuel odor

You really should look around under the car to see if something obvious is wrong. I had a vent line going from the filler neck to the tank that was rusted through. I pulled down the heat shield on...

Re: Transmission replacement

I changed the fluid today. I was running Dexron VI and the fluid felt a little gritty and seemed to have lots of tiny metal particles in it. Not much stuck to the magnet, so either these particles...
