Re: Cracked Intake Manifold

I had the exact same horizontal mold line crack in my intake manifold. I went ahead and bought the CNC machined fix from carsaturn.

In the meantime I figured I would give the VersaChem Plastic...

Re: how many miles do you have on your saturn?

Just bought an 01 SL2 auto with 103k miles for $1500.

As soon as I replaced the thermostat the stupid plastic intake manifold going to the heater core decided to crack. I've replaced the ECTS,...

Re: STANT 14279 theromostat problem

I did notice that the original was made in Germany and that it really was stuck. Couldn't hear the check ball rattling at all.

Re: STANT 14279 theromostat problem

I got it! The o-ring was correct. It wasn't until I rolled the ring a certain way that it eventually took up the slack and sat into the groove correctly. This is my first thermostat install ever...

Re: STANT 14279 theromostat problem

Old Nuc. Your explanation on the thermostat rating makes perfect sense. However, the o-ring that was provided was larger than the valley it is supposed to sit in. I can roll it completely around...

STANT 14279 theromostat problem

I am replacing my theromostat and ECTS. I bought a STANT 14279 from advance auto parts. The specs on both the STANT 14279 theromostat and the box say that it is rated at 188 degrees. Also, the...

Re: Temp gauge does not go past 1/4 mark and sometimes the car idles at 1500RPM on pa

Thanks Fdryer, I didn't even know I had a thermostat problem till I read your post. Gonna replace the ECTS while I am at it whether I got the brass one or not (just $10 at the parts store).

Saw a...

Re: Temp gauge does not go past 1/4 mark and sometimes the car idles at 1500RPM on pa

I have an 2001 SL2 as well and my temps sit right at the 1/4 mark. Not sure if that is where the gauge should be as this is my first Saturn but it has never moved above the 1/4 mark.

Re: Motor Mount Replacement Nuts

I just replaced my MM just the other day. Out of the 3 nuts I removed off of the engine side of the MM - I had 2 studs come out. All I did was just use a socket at the top of the stud (can't...

Re: 01 SL2 headlamp assembly removal

I'll admit I was in a real hurry when I diagnosed the broken wire. I didn't realize that it would be so easy to pull the assembly. I just hope that there will be enough wire (and room) for me to...

I just picked up an SL2 the other day and I was in the middle of getting my inspection when the inspector failed me because one of my high-beams was inoperable. Upon closer inspection I notice that...
