Driver door lock problem

I have an 2006 Ion coupe and the driver side door lock has been acting up. The locking system from a visual standpoint seems to be just fine you can hit the power lock and or manually lock the door...

I caught mine before it ripped off I used goo-e-puk to bridge the gap. I am not sure how this piece is held on but I would suspect it is a combination of clips and goo-e-puk.

With the cat out of the bag GM has extended the recall to include the lock cylinder.

Low quality parts came onto the Saturn line when GM started "reeling in" Saturn around the 3rd quarter of 1999,...

I was right about the recall!.......this part seemed to be at least 50% of the problem.....a long time ago we all bought the story they used the wrong grease? :dizzy:

I knew this coming.....when I replaced this part the old one looked like it was going to be real trouble for GM....a real piece of doo!. The upgraded part is much better designed.

I smell another recall then.... these lock cylinders are complete crap and what happened to my Saturn having it stuck in the run position with no hope of shutting it off is a very dangerous...

Again like I have posted the whole system is junk from the key to the electrical plug.....everybody knows it at GM and the dealerships....this has been a very profitable part for them to fix over the...

The term "Ignition Switch" is used to refer from everything from the lock cylinder all the way back to the plastic electrical plug on the bottom of the ignition. The Feds have ordered GM to fix this...

there is no cover for that computer. I am surprised they completely change the coil and ICM from the 2006 2.2's mine is one piece that fits over the plugs and plugs into the harness on the right top...

When I fixed mine 18 months ago I had to replace the lock cylinder, lock cylinder housing which in clouded a new ignition switch.

The faulty part is the lock cylinder the original design had many...

I had the key get stuck at the on/run position. The car could only be shut off dumping my clutch with the brakes on and killing the engine that way, I would then disconnect the negative battery cable...

The cylinder set up I got on ebay keyed to my cars code was 40 dollars took about a week to arrive. Had to remove 3 pieces of plastic to access the hole to let the lock go. GM wanted 125 for the part...

The ignition switch is probably toast. I had problems with both ends of the ignition. I ended up replacing the whole thing from key to electronic switch. no more problems as yet. I got the lock...
