Re: 07 Ion 2 - engine compatibility 2.2 California / Federal

I'm inclined to believe all 2.2L ecotec engines are the same engine block internals with ancillary parts needed to separate federal from California engines. The ecm/pcm may have a different tune to...

Re: Bad Lock Cylinder/Won't Run

When you replaced the steering column, the Passlock three wire sensor is removable and transferable along with the lock cylinder and ignition switch. If one of these three parts are damaged or...

Re: Bad Lock Cylinder/Won't Run

Now that you stated security's flashing, this means Passlock detected a theft as described previously. Passlock, not the airbag system, is disabling injector operation. Don't believe it? Remove spark...

Re: 2002 SL Runs for a second the dies

If an intermittent spark, try removing all plug wires from both coils and have someone crank the engine. There should be spark across both coil towers. If spark is intermittent, examine wiring and...

Re: Bleeding Brakes on ABS system: '94 SL2 HCE

Before all this, did it ever occur to you that your 21 yr old car with ??? miles has a worn out brake master cylinder? Review your alldata info on servicing brakes. Does it specifically state...

Re: 2002 SL Runs for a second the dies

Ok, wet plugs (injectors working and fuel pressure) and spark with coil tests verifies the EFI system is working.

Before trying the following tests, remove either the fuel pump fuse or pump relay...

Re: Converting my ion 3 into redline with donor car

JayyT, I'm not 100% familiar with Ions or Redlines but have some info that may help. As you know, the Redline should be a supercharged 2.0L while your Ion-3 is a naturally aspirated 2.2L ecotec....

Re: 2001 Saturn L300 (L81/3.0L V6) - Lower Intake Manifold Gasket/Thermostat Replacem

The bolts are too long. Somewhere somehow, either you're using a new thinner mounting ear t-stat housing or used bolts for something else. The t-stat housing mounting holes appear to match the...

Re: Is there any way to "delete" the traction control system?

Are you sure the electronic brake traction control module (EBTCM) is faulty? Below is a snapshot of Saturn's L200/L300 anti lock and traction control description. I presume this applies to all...

Re: Wheel Lock Removal Tool

Can you take a snapshot or two of these wheel locks? Know what brand? Checked with the manufacturer for suggestions?

There are several methods used by repair shops as well as thieves for removing...

Re: 2002 SL Runs for a second the dies

Remove all spark plugs and examine them for fuel. While pressure is generated and verified with a f/p gauge, this doesn't verify injector operation. Removing and examining plugs for wetness checks...

Re: Bad Lock Cylinder/Won't Run

Without service manuals or ex Saturn tech around here, guessing on repairs can be either easy or a monumental headache. I think you headed for the latter.

Passlock security relies on two things,...

Re: Communications link error, service vehicle and brake warning

You may be less than a handful of members here with a faulty low brake fluid switch. As you found, junk yards have perfectly working spare parts. Saturn wasn't discontinued due to odd circuitry.

Re: 2002 SL Runs for a second the dies

Every car, truck and suv does that same thing; turning on ignition, engine off, battery and oil light turn on. When the engine's running, battery and oil light turn off because the alternator turns...

Re: 2001 Saturn L300 (L81/3.0L V6) - Lower Intake Manifold Gasket/Thermostat Replacem

Ask your neighbor. A helping hand works in mysterious ways when stuck with one point of view. There will always be someone smarter. The best part is the smarter person helps without imparting...

stayed dry while doing it? Amazing isn't it when your right foot is retrained to stop sucking gas. Glad the...

Re: AC Compressor Compatibility

The old adage, do it right or don't do it at all, applies to vehicle refrigeration. I didn't buy all my equipment at one time. I learned awhile back and the first purchase was an r12 set of gauges...

Re: Communications link error, service vehicle and brake warning

Re: SL2 2nd Gen Routing Cables to Upper dash for radio install?

Re: 2001 Saturn L300 (L81/3.0L V6) - Lower Intake Manifold Gasket/Thermostat Replacem

T-stat replacement was awhile ago. I don't recall exact procedures but logic tells me I would have drained coolant then removed that tight bended upper radiator hose from the extension tube before...

Re: Bleeding Brakes on ABS system: '94 SL2 HCE

Before reading the rest below, consider a well worn out brake master cylinder may be the reason for low pedal. Abs does not contribute to low pedal issues. Be very leery about attempting to service...

Re: 2001 Saturn L300 (L81/3.0L V6) - Lower Intake Manifold Gasket/Thermostat Replacem

The t-stat elbow housing ends at the large end. The extension tube fits into the large end with two O-rings - a slip fit with O-rings providing a seal against coolant pressure. Bare aluminum corrodes...

Re: Alternator

Easy enough to find out by using many online auto parts distributors; AutoZone, Advance Auto, rockauto.com, NAPA, O'Reilly, etc. Rockauto seems to have a better way of listing parts, enough to...
