Thanks for the explanation. I'm still bothered by why the diverter valve solenoid isn't shutting off. I thought it was supposed to turn on after the pump starts up, and then turn off just before pump...

Update:
With neg. battery cable diconnected and plug disconnected from pcm, found pin 70 on plug. Inserted push pins in 70 at plug and85 at relay socket (yes fdryer, from wife's sewing stuff)....

Pump connector ground appears to be ok. With terminals 30 and 87 jumped, pump runs. If i'm right, pump should not run if this ground was open. I did take several chassis grounds apart and cleaned...

Installed short wires at 85 and 86. Ohmed both to ground first. 85 read open to both battery ground and chassis ground. 86 read 470 ohms to battery ground, and open to chassis ground.

Here's where i'm at.
Checked continuity on connector ground, appears to be ok. There's continuity between pin #30 and red wire at connector. Jumped pins 30 and 87, and blower came on.

air pump is definitely bad. Air pump is starting to melt from hot exhaust gases. Have not had any luck finding an air pump. A couple of ideas i've mulled over are: replace the diverter valve...
