Re: 02 SL2--Lower Control Arm/Ball Joint: Seized Bolt

Put a block of wood or two between the frame and the floor jack pad to raise the car higher so you can extend the jack stands higher. I'm assuming your trying to get more leverage out of the pry.

Re: Considering Purchasing this car... opinions?

I wouldn't wait to pull that bumper and trunk deck from the pick n pull. Chances are there won't be another one that colour once it's gone. For a couple hundred bucks you'd have a near perfect low...

Re: 02 SL2--Lower Control Arm/Ball Joint: Seized Bolt

I used a ratchet strap but I think I also inserted the sway bar into the LCA and then hooked up the cradle bolt with a bit of muscle work.

Re: Fluid running noise in cabin, weak heat

My 92 SL2, 93 SW2, 00 SW2 (Mom's) and 01 SL1 never gurgled either. My 99 SL2 does and the 01 SL2 already mentioned.

Re: Fluid running noise in cabin, weak heat

So are you saying they changed the design of the heater core at some point to give the outlet tube a longer radius bend? Otherwise replacing it with the same would provide no benefit.

It would...

Re: Fluid running noise in cabin, weak heat

There's lots of posts but no absolute concrete solution. It seems that flushing the heater core, replacing the heater core or flushing the entire cooling system seems to be the most common way of...

Re: Fluid running noise in cabin, weak heat

OldNuc, do you have a copy of the TSB or at least the TSB ID? Can you share it?

I'm not having much luck finding it or reference to it.

Re: Bolt on hood struts

Thanks, I had found the installation instructions but didn't have the strut measurements. The only thing I'm missing is the "optimum" weight rating for the strut to replicate it. Here's a copy of...

Re: Saturn Craigslist Deal of the Day!

Based on some of the backyard lane-ways I've seen in Toronto there's not much room to do a full 90 degree turn into you garage. Some of the backyard's aren't deep enough to put a full depth garage...

I think that colour was called silver plum.

Re: Saturn Craigslist Deal of the Day!

I like that colour on the coupe but at the time not so much on the sedan. Upon second look, 22 years later, I think I would rock the SL2 in purple now.

Re: Bolt on hood struts

I don't understand what you've wrote. I think you're saying the strut is too firm, made for greater amount of weight than a Saturn hood. I'm not sure which configuration you're trying to install -...

Re: Fluid running noise in cabin, weak heat

My 99 SL2 has it whereas my 2001 SL1 does not. The 2001 SL2 10th anniversary edition I bought and sold had it. My former 92 SL2 & 93 SW2 nor my Mom's 00 SW2 never had it. I wonder if it is...

Re: Bolt on hood struts

The best I can figure based on looking at replacement struts for the 99 Chrysler 300M is that you can get the strut ball stud from a 1999-2004 300M or a 1998-2004 Intrepid. It is not attached to the...

Re: Bolt on hood struts

Here's the complete list of GM cars that use that part number. So that is the lower position then?

Re: Parasitic Drain - electrical system

The infamous chattering door locks will do it too. I remember on my 93 SW2 I'd lock the doors and walk away only to return latter to chattering door locks. Check your door switch.

Re: Fuel Gauge Question?

Speaking of Magpogue, it occurred to me that we haven't seen him around here in a while. I wonder what's up? Last activity was in September 2018.

Re: Where is Recirculation Motor Located?

Not that it matters much and totally not relevant to Saturn's but the Suburban has 2 actuators in the rear. One for hot & cold blend and another to direct air up or down (floor or roof vent). They...

Re: How many miles left once Low Fuel light comes on?

I guess I'm one of the lucky ones where is comes on at 1/2 gallon. I'll never know though. That's too much stress to run with the needle buried on empty for that long.

Re: How many miles left once Low Fuel light comes on?

I wouldn't think a rusty tank would be an issue. S Series tanks are not metal.

Re: Saturn Craigslist Deal of the Day!

I thought that colour was introduced in the 96 model year. I remember the dealership showing off their first GEN2 1996 SL2 and it was that colour. Maybe it was a new colour for the sedan in 96.

Re: Windshield wiper fluid hose

If length is an issue use a piece of shrink tubing. It should grab on and give some good tension as well.

Re: How many miles left once Low Fuel light comes on?

I have yet to see the low fuel light turn on in my 99 SL2 and the most fuel I've put in at fill up is 42 litres (11.09 US Gal). That was running the needle on empty for far longer than comfortable...
