Re: terrible fuel mileage

My 95 SL2 is having a similar problem. I used to get 350 to 360 mpg per tank and now I'm getting 270 to 280. This happened all of the sudden from one tank of gas to the next. Ever since then my...

Re: Can We Say Fail lol

It's called, "Google spam". They're used to boost the page ranking in Google's search engine. Googlebot can't actually read and understand anything, and it most definitely doesn't know anything about...

Re: Very LOW brake pedal,,, almost no brakes??need mayjor advice!

Something is definitely wrong with the design because it appears to fail to self adjust in many vehicles, however mine seem to self adjust fine in both my 95 SL2's, so I don't know what's wrong with...

Re: Dexcool

When I was a kid, my dad had a Vega. It had an all aluminum engine block, and I believe it was water cooled. I also believe it was a long long time before Dexcool was invented.

I wonder what they...

Re: Dexcool

Well, when my Saturn originally had overheating problems I had no clue about Dexcool so I drained it into a bucket and flushed it and put Dexcool back in there because that's what was recommended.

Re: Dexcool

Yes, take it back and exchange it for some universal stuff that says it can be used in any engine and mixed with any coolant. That way you don't have to worry if someone else accidentally pours the...

Re: 2000 SC2 Purchase - Recommendations

Uhh, "plastic intake manifolds"?

Holey crap!

Re: should I do MMO piston soak

I find this very interesting. Especially the second half, "followed by the Synthetic oil, which has high cleaning powers".

Re: DIY windshield replacement

So what are these tools and ideas that are required?

I believe that's what the OP is looking for.

I would think it would be pretty easy as well given that the labor costs to do it are pretty...

Re: DIY windshield replacement

Are you all trying to say that it's impossible to swap out your windshield yourself?

Re: Flooding maybe?

That would definitely increase the chances that you'll get it for free.

Re: should I do MMO piston soak

I read before that leaving it for too long can be bad. It can loosen up carbon deposits from your combustion chamber, then have it all seep down to the rings where they all get stuck and cause more...

Re: can someone help

fdryer, this sentence doesn't make any sense.

How exactly can the leaned out mixture fire before the intake has time to close?

The intake is closing at the end/bottom of the intake stroke when...

I vote for a leaky fuel injector.

Re: how much was my engine hurt by low oil?

Alright, must've been the 302 (looked it up on wikipedia). Anyway, I didn't care much then and still don't. It was a crappy car with a lack of power and poor gas mileage.

If I had a 67 Cougar it'd...

Re: can someone help

She probably got sick of us arguing about her car.

But anyway, she doesn't know how to change her thermostat and screwing around with the ECTS connector and tin foil is a lot easier and quicker....

Re: can someone help

There's the answer I'm looking for. A piece of tinfoil crumpled up and stuffed into the ECTS connector will short out the two pins in there and cause the PCM to believe that the engine is warm when...

Re: can someone help

I was suggesting a resistor as a temporary fix just to get the computer to pass it's tests, then remove the resistor and connect it back to the ECTS. I don't see anything wrong with this idea, since...

Re: how much was my engine hurt by low oil?

It might be dangerous to turn off your engine and slam on the breaks, but turning off the engine and coasting to a stop using the breaks only as necessary to avoid obstacles shouldn't be too...

Re: My car keeps eating fuel pumps (3 in a year!)

Has this problem been solved yet?

There always seems to be confusion about the meaning of, "won't turn over" and "won't crank".

Both of those terms mean that the starter is not turning the...

Re: Major coolant leak

OldNuc, do you still have this picture around? I can't seem to view it from this forum.

It sounds from the thread that it's only coolant...

Re: can someone help

A 195 degree thermostat most likely leads to a cleaner burning engine. Less emissions and less carbon deposits in the combustion chamber. It probably also leads to more NOX in the exhaust, but since...

Re: Major coolant leak

You won't be able to tell the difference between a cracked head and a blown head gasket. All you'll be able to tell is if you have oil in your coolant, or if you have pressure from your combustion...

Re: can someone help

The problem she's having is that her computer is indicating, "not ready" or whatever. She's not having a problem with her engine emitting too much. Therefor I don't believe she'll, "want all the help...
