Re: Loud lifter noise rebuilt head install

Confused on how the exhaust manifold required a crow bar to remove & install. Unbolt it and it pulls right off, if it doesn't you didn't unbolt it properly.
If you weren't careful with the crowbar...

Re: Intake questions

For the cost involved I'd have gone with the hardware store one. The AEM is wayyy overpriced and the rest sound like crap.

SL2 bumpers look better no matter how much you try to pretty up the SL/SL1 bumpers :p

Re: 13.5v on a new alt, too low??

I've never seen 14v (or higher) on a S-Series alternator. Never had a charge related issue except that one time the alternator failed and I replaced it with one with a broken B+ terminal.

If the...

Re: Water

If the radiator is 10+ years old, it's probably cracked on the driver side near the automatic transmission cooler inlet.
If the water pump is 10+ years old (or non OEM of any age) it could be...

Re: Cone filter dimensions

You may get it to stretch enough to fit around a 2.5" filter. The stock pipe isn't stiff enough to go on the inside of a filter.

Re: with ac on ... engine fan does not come on

Under Hood Junction Box

Every relay has a diagram on the side and each pin is numbered on the bottom/pin side.

Pretty sure '91-'95 is all 4pin relay's that don't totally swap with '96-'02 5pin...

Re: with ac on ... engine fan does not come on

Quick check is to shove a jumper wire between pins 30 and 87 of the radiator fan relay in the UHJB. If it turns on then it works fine.

The A/C button doesn't turn on A/C, it asks the PCM to turn...

Sounds like the only thing left to try with what you've done is a drivetrain harness...

Re: Cone filter dimensions

Pretty sure you'll need a 6" length of 2.5" diameter PVC pipe to put the two together. Unless your hardware store is nicer than mine you'll have to buy the whole 10ft length of pipe, so you might as...

Re: Dead battery

Pull fuse's one at a time like in the video until the analog multimeter shows an under 200ma draw, that's the circuit that's draining the battery. It doesn't matter what the exact reading is right...

Re: cross-wind stability...

I had 205/50R15's with H&R Sport Springs on a '93 SL2. I just learned to avoid the high wind area's, though living in snow country the high winds weren't anything unusual to deal with as it felt...

Re: night running light suddenly out and dash and headlight motors

Take the headlight/motor harness out, and rebuild if necessary. The wires get old and brittle, with the constant movement they break and/or short out.

Re: Dead battery

Video on checking for a parasitic draw: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zdIKNnwEjIs

I'd start with the radio fuse, just because it's a common failure.

Re: Dead battery

You'll have to put the multi-meter on MA and see how bad the power draw is.

Year & model would help too, different years and models have slightly different things that can cause a power draw.

Re: Intake questions

The AEM CAI I bought had a hole & grommet for the IATS and a nipple on the underside of the pipe for the crankcase vent line.

Wow, for a job I've done with the engine sitting on the ground (no stand, nothing to help hold it in place) you guys sure seem to complicate it :dizzy:

Re: Front wheel bearings failed again.

Has to be done 100% the right way or you'll have quick failures. Bearing has to be properly supported going into the kunckle, go in 100% straight, then it has to be properly supported while the hub...

It was an uncommon option for 2nd gen interiors.

Re: power steering pump confusion

Couple tips I've thought of:

CarSaturn's Plastic Intake Manifold Fix. Much easier to do with the engine out, especially as you'll have to swap the IM over anyway. Video P1...

Re: DOHC overheated and appears to have quit

Re: o2 sensor

'91-'95 only have 1 O2 Sensor, the upstream non-heated one. You can convert it to a heated one but you'll need the car-side pigtail for it and extra wires to run the heated portion.
