Re: [2001 L300] - Easiest way to tap into true ignition safely; anyone?

No professional expertise, just another diyer with some knowledge and service manuals for reference and sharing info. Below are wiring diagrams of the ignition switch with several wires to consider...

Re: 02 SL2--Clicking from driver side tire: Bad tie rod? CV joint?

^ How utterly crude!? My L300 has shields on front and rear and guaranteed to make scraping noises when I touch them (15 years of exposure to NYC weather including annual salted roads).

Thanks...

Re: Hard to track down starting\running issue

I can personally equate with old school and young techs as my previous employment allows for both. Unfortunately I've discovered incompetence in both groups. While I have my share of mistakes and own...

Re: 02 SL2--Clicking from driver side tire: Bad tie rod? CV joint?

CV joints usually click when steering is partially or fully right or left at low speed. When a full right or left turn in a parking lot is made at low speed, the cv joints are at maximum flex where...

Re: [2001 L300] - Easiest way to tap into true ignition safely; anyone?

Three critical points in those pics; black duct tape, electrical tape and gorilla glue. Tape adhesive turns gooey in a year or so and leaves a sticky mess while exposing wires - don't use it, avoid...

Re: Saturn Help in Chicago?

Among the many things affecting xmission operation (engine, wiring, pcm, xmission valve body, etc), harsh shifts seems to point to a faulty pressure control solenoid. More on this below. To further...

Re: (Sarcoxiechick ) Manual transmission trouble - '98 SL2

If Sarcoxie is in Missouri, do cars corrode and rust sitting in place unused for several years like anything left outside anywhere? 6yrs sitting outdoors can do marvelous things to metals. I tend to...

Re: Hard to track down starting\running issue

Are they capable of reading wiring diagrams like your idea of checking the START wire for 12v when the ignition switch is turned to START? Ions are the latest breed of electronic starting where 12v...

Re: Best Tires for Handling & Rain Traction? - '98 SC2

This should have been mentioned in your initial post. Look for summer tires with rain control. Obviously, summer tires can be either soft tread compound for best grip with lower life or medium...

Re: A/C Compressor - Oil or Coolant Leak

If you cannot get the entire service manual online, subscribe as suggested. Service manuals are written for trained people that use manuals as reference. You're second guessing with questions that...

Re: A/C Compressor - Oil or Coolant Leak

A service manual is invaluable here as you're performing a total rebuild of this system, leaving the evaporator alone. Not many diyers will go to this extent as each repair is based on whether or not...

Re: "Hosed" - Rear brake line snapped

1-If you're not in any hurry to make repairs, you might be able to search (with patience) for oem or aftermarket replacement. You might have trouble finding it in Autozone/Advance Auto/NAPA/big chain...

Re: A/C Compressor - Oil or Coolant Leak

Yes. Removing the ac 10 amp fuse will disable compressor operation but doing so may turn on the check engine light with a false error code. You are correct - ac will run but will not below...

Re: Draining Coolant - Where does it come out?

The petcock is always plastic with a soft rubber washer. Its actually a little difficult to loosen the petcock because of the thick rubber washer that seals for life against any leak from a worn...

Re: 2005 Saturn Vue Oil Ring Burning Suggestions.?

Re: Draining Coolant - Where does it come out?

Virtually every radiator has a petcock drain valve like the one you have at the bottom. No provisions are made to include a tube or other means to drain coolant. The same with draining oil. Place a...

Re: pulling away at idle when cold

The only guess I can make in the xmission to cause a drop in idle rpm might be the torque converter lock up clutch inadvertently energized at idle with a cold engine.

Re: 2005 Saturn Vue Base 2.2L Won't start after Timing Chain/Head Replacement!
