UPDATE: Regarding Ignition Lock Cylinder Removal on 2000 SL

Tried turning the key in the ignition today. It turned. Perhaps sitting 3 days letting the Zepp soak in helped loosen them. Sprayed more Zepp in key slot. I've been stranded for 4 days. I probably...

I have the same problem as glmots.

My Saturn: SC2, 2001, manual transmission. My new key (I had 2 new keys cut from the VIN at Chevrolet Dealership) will go in the key slot but I am not able to...

Re: Use Heavier Oil For Older Cars??

1999 Saturn SC2 4 speed automatic. My owner's manual recommends 10W-40. I've always been a Valvoline guy. Around 185k I noticed puffs of smoke coming out of my tailpipe. I never had to add oil prior...

Re: Any negative comments on 2001 SC2 5 speed manual?

Thanks for the comments el diablo viejo and mandun. I've seen your comments in other threads.

I would never buy a used vehicle without a test drive, but I wouldn't have thought to climb under the...

Re: ECTS change, yet the problem persists

Brake cleaner or throttle body cleaner are good. You might use an old toothbrush or smaller brush to scrub inside the cavities, too.

Any negative comments on 2001 SC2 5 speed manual?

My 99 SC2 4 speed automatic has been giving me problems for the past 6 months. Money is tight; I'm a pensioner. Its difficult to get car into my mechanic. I've been watching richpin06 and perusing...

Re: Rough idle and random high idle

air/smog pump? Do you mean the opposite end of the plenum from the throttle body? At the passenger side of the plenum is the MAP sensor. There's an electrical connection and a vacuum hose.

Re: Random miss at idle

I wonder if your problem is similar to mine. The coolant temperature sensor?

I'm not a mechanic. I'm learning though by reading and watching richpin06. I've replaced plugs, plug wires, TPS, IACV,...

Re: How I installed an LED dome and trunk light cheap

Nice mattwithcats. I've been wanting to change as many incandescent lights with LED's as possible. Wish this technology was available when our cars were manufactured, though.

Re: Trailer Mod

True. I wouldn't have pulled you over if your trailer plates were not from same State as your vehicle.

Re: 1993 Saturn problems. Fan ect

Wow, only 85k on a 93. What a great buy. Your 1993 is a Gen 1 so I don't know whether you have a throttle body with IACV (idle air control valve) and TPS (throttle position switch) as does my Gen 2...

Re: Speaker improvements?

All the recommendations seem to have merit. My 99 SC2 stock speakers have started to vibrate, primarily the rear window shelf speakers. I don't notice the door speakers vibrating yet, but when I take...

If you consistently shift into Park, not...

Re: Motor mount changed, still vibrates hard.

According to richpin06a your vehicle and mine are very similar. There are 2 engine mounts that require replacement. You say that you replaced the top engine but don't metion whether you replaced the...

Re: Getting only cold air out of vents

I, too, have the same problem. I was too stupid, too lazy, too cheap or all the above to replace the radiator and tried a band aid fix with a bottle of $14.99 Stop Leak. That seemed to work for about...

Re: What would cause car to sound very loud inside cabin? (not the exhaust)

I have the same problem, noise, with my 1999 SC2. My mechanic told me the resonator has small hole. Probably from being pulled out of a snow drift when the resonator came in contact with the curb....

Re: Worth fixing up or should I sell it instead?

I agree with most of the previous comments. Regarding your radiator... a new radiator purchased online from ebay or radiators.com should cost around $85.

I just had my radiator replaced. I'm a...
