Re: 99 Saturn SL2 engine hesitation, now won’t start

The white smoke, if it isn't a blown head gasket, would normally be first startup and humidity creating steam until the engine warms up. The steam is from overnight condensation settling in the...

Re: 99 Saturn SL2 engine hesitation, now won’t start

Normally, the couldn't sensor sends temperature signals the pcm needs to determine correct air/fuel ratios. When the original sensors failed (virtually all of them), cold engine starting results in...

Re: My experience with Motor Oils and my Saturn

If you're ok with sluggish starting this winter with 15w40, keep using it. Just be aware of slower starter turnover with thicker oil in freezing weather. 0w20 is perfect for winter use.

Re: Refrigerant Temp Sensor - replacement part??

During work in electronics, I came across a blown solid state switch on a bank of switches, all using white thermal paste. After more than 15 years of reliable use, thermal grease hardened. Scraping...

Re: Manual trans and synchronizer questions

I think your concern to use a higher viscosity xmission oil may be overly concerned. Presuming brass synchronizers are used, the main concern from GMs view is reasonably long term life with either...

Re: Lw300 NIGHTMARE PLEASE HELP (OVERHEATING)

And to add to the above, I doubt t-stats stick in closed position but mechanical things don't have a conscience and fail according to Murphy's law. Best way to assess t-stat temps is with a reader...

Re: Manual trans and synchronizer questions

I've never read or heard of manual xmission synchronizers made of fiber. Conventional manuals are all metal. Brass synchronizers. Exotic carbon fiber? Maybe new for specific vehicles. My guess is...

Re: 99 Saturn SL2 engine hesitation, now won’t start

^ Caution warning. That setup with hand holding a spark plug to the engine block to test for spark can result in a....... shocking result. Up to 40k volts is the specs given with electronic ignition...

Re: Wiring connector for 2002 L300

Try rockauto.com then consider junk yards. Online - ebay for new/used parts, carpart.com, carid.com, etc.

Re: Sunroof won't close!

Just some things to consider. A 28yr old sun/moon roof operating without problems due to periodic lubrication may be the main reason for so many years of trouble free use. Unfortunately, there are...

Re: Brakes going to floor

Where you're parked, are there any oil stains on the ground from the four wheels? Did you jack up the car to inspect each brake for brake fluid leaks?

Re: How Much Of Is Too Much? (Timing Belt)

Although timing is correctable and nothing bent(?), the crank no start issue may be a dead crank sensor (needed to allow the ecm to run the EFI system). A quick diagnosis would be spraying starting...

Re: 2007 Saturn Ion 2.2L Fuel/Evap System Issue?

With the check engine light off and several days of driving, what do you mean by other issues?

Mileage, maintenance done, engine related parts replaced in addition to fuel filter, plugs, purge...

Re: my 2000 saturn cranks but wont start

With a 2.2L engine, your L-series issues should be posted in the L-series forums. You might find more info there.

Re: 06 Fuel Pump Relay Blowing Fuse

What two relay terminal sockets were jumpered to blow the pump fuse? Be specific as there are only four pinouts - two for the pump command signal and two for the 12v power to the pump. Each relay...

Re: Is there a single component that can be the cause all 6 plugs to misfire?

I'm not familiar with 3.5L Vues so cannot comment on timing belt inspection procedures. With a twelve year old Vue and less than 100k miles on it, the evap codes may be age and/or corrosion related....

Re: 05 Vue Cooling fan running all the time + thermostat question (P0128)

Re: Is there a single component that can be the cause all 6 plugs to misfire?

It isn't likely for all six individual plug coils to fail all at once or even intermittently. There are error codes to point to individual coil failure. If every coil acts intermittently then it may...

Re: 2002 L300 LED DRL solutions ?

If I'm not mistaken, headlight wiring (regardless of drl wiring or not) remains as it always was, a 12v DC system. There's no such thing as backward powered headlights. Direct current means voltage...

Re: Cant shift out of park

Disconnecting the interlock solenoid is the same as if the ignition key wasn't in or its turned to the ON/RUN position. The solenoid isn't powered with ignition off so the default setting is to lock...

Re: Should I change the timing belt ?

It will always be a personal choice against recommended timelines or mileage. Some go past 100k miles with zero issues but those may be exceptions with zero engine problems like a water pump or oil...

Re: ABS + BRAKE light

12.8v with engine running points to alternator failure. 12.5 volts is battery voltage with engine off. With engine idling, voltage should be 14.3v-15v (max) with the average voltage around 14.5.
