Re: What did you do to your S-Series today...

Very nice^
:key:You gave me the idea to use the wheels from the SL1 that we scraped last spring. They’re just sitting in the garage with adequate tread.

Re: How Do You Verify You’re Not Buying a FLOOD VICTIM?

fdryer, thank you.

I enter in the VIN and received,
VIN Check Total Loss Record
Date of loss: 201x-0x-xx Cause of loss: Other
I wonder if “FLOOD” is something checked by NICB, or if “Other”...

Re: How Do You Verify You’re Not Buying a FLOOD VICTIM?

So, buying any vehicle with a REBUILT title consists of driving 8, 9 or 10 hours and then taking a door apart in someone’s driveway while calling the seller a liar.
Maybe you could give their...

Re: How Do You Verify You’re Not Buying a FLOOD VICTIM?

I can see that happening.

What if the car never left the state. For a car that has had only one owner, what if the insurance company declared the vehicle a TOTAL LOSS VEHICLE and then “sold” it...

Re: How Do You Verify You’re Not Buying a FLOOD VICTIM?

Thank you.

The seller said it was hail damage. I asked for pictures of hail damage and the seller said they really don’t show in a picture.
Maybe that is also a clue.

So, if the DMV will...

Re: How Do You Verify You’re Not Buying a FLOOD VICTIM?

Do you mean that I can use the V.I.N. to access something somewhere that will tell me the car was flooded?

You would think the seller would be all over this. How do they expect to sell the car...

How Do You Verify You’re Not Buying a FLOOD VICTIM?

Here’s a question I thought of while reading “Is anyone collecting Saturns?“
http://www.saturnfans.com/forums/showthread.php?t=223534

How would you go about verifying a prospective vehicle was...

Re: Suggestions on Oil

I’m keeping track. After an oil change, I start with a full quart bottle in the trunk.
It seems usage was/is about 1 qt per 3000 miles.
I think this and the last were the New and Improved HDD...

Re: Suggestions on Oil

^Yep^
I just did a 500-mile trip. When I started the AmsOil 5w-30 HDD was at the bottom of the “U”. After 500-miles, the oil level was at the Full mark on the stick.
75 mph for about 5 hours of...

Has it been re-labeled and is being sold under another brand name?

Re: 98 SC2 steering issue

I do not think it has to be off the car to test it.
Here is the concept. There are bushings supporting/guiding the rack gear:...

Re: 31 psi FRONT, 28 psi REAR

If those tires are well-made then that is what I need. The tread type looks like OE.
You know you're driving a classic when they make TAs for it!

Re: 31 psi FRONT, 28 psi REAR

And therein lies the rub.— Put the OEM recommended pressure in, they drive terrible.
The tires that were on the car when it left Springhill were perfect at 31psi cold and they wore well at that...

Re: 31 psi FRONT, 28 psi REAR

Re: 31 psi FRONT, 28 psi REAR

OK, I needed to hear that. Thank you all.
I will start with 32 front. A few PSI make a noticeable difference.

The air temperature came up a little.
Here is the tire at 39 PSI Cold:...

Re: 31 psi FRONT, 28 psi REAR

Pleasy clarify. When you write ‘each model’, you’re referring to the model of automobile (1998 SC2) or the model of tire.
Meaning, you are referring to the SC2’s door sticker ...

Re: 31 psi FRONT, 28 psi REAR

It is my understanding that...

31 psi FRONT, 28 psi REAR

Are there any tires meeting the original...

Re: 98 SC2 steering issue

Saturn owners have done a P/S delete on a rack and pinion that was power.

Re: 98 SC2 steering issue

Since I have the same car...maybe this will help.
I set the alignment myself.
For camber, I use a Smart Camber gauge. So I am confident in -0.8 degrees all wheels.
The rack is good and so are...

Re: When buying a saturn s series what should you look for?

Your CL seller seems honest because there is actually a picture of the driver’s seat.
Count on the control bar being rusty. Order a replacement control bar.
Count on the stick shift mechanism...
