Re: '94 SL2 manual trans, electrical help needed

The ECTS/fan is on that 5v supply and most of that 5v load can be externally powered. You would have to live with the FP part of the issue and it might disappear on its own.

Re: '94 SL2 manual trans, electrical help needed

IN theory you disconnect the 5v output lines and connect the replacement sorce between those lines and the PCM ground. The internal 5V reference is coming up fast enough to not be generating any fail...

Re: '94 SL2 manual trans, electrical help needed

That will work and provide a clean fix. I was thinking about the difficulty of getting an outboard 5v supply integrated into the PCM signal system without getting into EFI issues as a fix.

Re: Oil Level

Between the F and U on FULL. This is the point after you change oil and filter, run engine to warm, and let it sit overnight in a LEVEL parking spot where you regularly check oil. Then check and...

Re: Quill / input shaft bearing- where to buy?

All manual transmissions have some type of seal on that shaft. A failed bearing is a disaster but a leaking seal can be worked around. You do not have to go that way as you have located the OEM part....

Re: '94 SL2 manual trans, electrical help needed

I used 94 Saturn PCM to find that one. Using ECM instead of PCM does pull up more results for the 94. Looks like lots of choices to pick from.

I suspect the electronic EGR will function with a...

Re: '94 SL2 manual trans, electrical help needed

How many pins on the device on the board?

The only thing that works is the correct year as you have major wiring issues with a 95 PCM as well as functionality. You have to have the CA emissions 94...

Re: '94 SL2 manual trans, electrical help needed

The 3rd item down in the linked search is a DIP package 3 terminal voltage regulator at 4.75v. If the cap is across the output then that could very well be the problem.

Re: '94 SL2 manual trans, electrical help needed

Does it look like the 3rd item down on this MOUSER search? https://www.mouser.com/Semiconductors/_/N-5gcb?Keyword=9347&FS=True I would backup and look for the input filter if any and then any cap in...

Re: '94 SL2 manual trans, electrical help needed

I do not think anyone has ever spent the time to unravel the PCM schematic completely.

If that car is a 94 DOHC with manual trans and ABS then just about any eBay 94 PCM will work out of the...

Re: OBD II Protocol

This one works for me WMMV however....

Re: Late GEN2 Alternator on an Early GEN2?

Note the double letters on the B wire, I/F. These connect to the matching functions on the other alternator.

Re: Late GEN2 Alternator on an Early GEN2?

The issue is that the regulator is marked with slightly different lettering for what are identical functions.

The CS121 regulator should have identical pin markings but that different shape...

Re: Late GEN2 Alternator on an Early GEN2?

Look at the square regulator plug and the old CS130D alternator regulator on the side just below the pins you will see P,L,I,S See which wire is connected to what pin, usually S and I. Now look at...

Re: Defrost and then some

Not really as they are almost completely electronic and there is no schematic or documentation.

Re: '94 SL2 manual trans, electrical help needed

It is possible a sensor(TPS) has failed and is overloading the 5V bus. Or there is a low resistance to ground on the wiring. The 5V should come right up to 5V.

Re: How should i remove stickers from my SC2?

Goo Gone also contains orange oil and that does attack paint. You should be able to tell this by the smell or the SDS.

Re: Late GEN2 Alternator on an Early GEN2?

Nope, they swap with a connector shape change. Google how to wire the adapter so you get the wires in the correct spot. The adapter 130<->121 is a more or less standard part and costs about 15$ from...

Re: Defrost and then some

They are sometimes flaky and any glitch in the enable line drops it out. A common module failure is random drop outs. It is a very slow processor and if you get into rapid button poking without...

Re: '94 SL2 manual trans, electrical help needed

A 5V failure is quite possible. That would cause all kinds of odd behavior. It is possible the 5V is being excessively loaded externally. Check with all load and attached wiring removed and see if it...
