Re: Boomerang aftermarket armrest installed

I talked to the dealership parts manager this morning and he stated that there is a GM part number for this armrest. It is "ASTRA-ARM. However, it still must be ordered from Boomerang Enterprises. ...

Re: Lag Time from Build Date to Delivery

What a morning!!!
1. Favorite mechanic is out until late afternoon, so I can't get a estimate from him on the Honda repair.
2. Mechanic there diagnosed the problem as a leaking steering rack...

Re: Lag Time from Build Date to Delivery

What an evening. I got home tonight to find a small puddle of oil on the floor of the garage where the Honda sits. The car is due to be turned over to our Son-In-Law tomorrow so he can start...

Re: oil change question

To the best of my knowledge (and I now don't recall the web site reference), the build oil is full synthetic. All I recall is that I found it while searching for information relative to the...

Re: Boomerang aftermarket armrest installed

Maybe, maybe not. When I last spoke with Chris Fisher, the president of Boomerang, he said Opel was very interested in it as an accessory. They had seen it at the SEMA show earlier in the year when...

Re: Boomerang aftermarket armrest installed

There is no GM part number. It is an GM licensed accessory part. The dealerships here order it directly from Boomerang. Here is the website for the Astra armrest.

Re: Lag Time from Build Date to Delivery

I sent an e-mail to Steve at Saturn and he replied that our car did not ship until Monday (instead of last Friday like they were told). It is due at the dealership tomorrow. He has called the...

Re: Lag Time from Build Date to Delivery

Stopped by the dealership on the way into work this morning. They got a delivery last night. Nine Auras and Vues, no Astras. This was most likely a truck from the New Boston, MI RDC. No sign of...

Re: Astra is One of the Best Small Cars GM has Offered in the United States

When we did our test drive back in January of an automatic Astra, I noticed that the step off from a stop light was a bit laggard, compared with our existing cars. I have seen references to this in...

Re: Astra-Back Seat Removal

Not sure if this helps, but the Vauxhall owner's manual shows a loop under each of the lower cushions down at the carpet. They are talking about the estate wagon, but it may be the same for the...

Re: Lag Time from Build Date to Delivery

This has been a nerve racking weekend. I had so much yard work to do and all I could think about was the long awaited arrival of our new Astra. I kept wondering if it got dropped off today, but...

Re: Astra is One of the Best Small Cars GM has Offered in the United States

Kev: Wonderfully put. As I look back on the compact cars I have had since '92 and the performance they had, your explanation is spot on. My SC was not that fast and yet it got me to and from & on...

Re: oil change question

Everything I have read about GM's OLS says that the car could indeed go 10K miles on an oil fill. It depends on how and where you drive. Also, from what I've read, the 2HO motor in the Astra has a...

Re: Astra is One of the Best Small Cars GM has Offered in the United States

I agree that the S model was a really good design. After all, my old '92 SC is still doing its thing every day without fail for my Brother-In-Law. Every thing works on that car, except the trunk...

Re: Astra is One of the Best Small Cars GM has Offered in the United States

Yeah, you are correct. I was thinking the the SOHC motor was 119 and the DOHC was 130. What was the hp of the SOHC engine?

And I was wrong on the Honda's mpg also. I just found the window...

Re: Astra is One of the Best Small Cars GM has Offered in the United States

Hmmm
1. '92 Saturn SC 24/32 mpg 130 hp? i forgot
2. '97 Honda Civic EX 24/30 mpg 127 hp
3. '03 Mazda Protege 25/32 mpg 130 hp

Guess I buy bad cars. Although the Civic is really...

Re: Aftermarket air intake suggestions

I like that sound! I did a shop built intake on my '92 SC and if you stood on it at a traffic light, heads turned. I also did the same for my '97 Civic EX. Last summer, I hammered it around a guy...

Anything special to look for at delivery?

OK, the time is winding down for arrival and delivery of Black Betty. I am making a punch list of what to check for on delivery. Does anyone have any experiences as what was given to you when you...

Re: Lag Time from Build Date to Delivery

I received a phone call today from the sales manager at the local dealership. Black Betty has been loaded on a truck in NJ and is headed directly to the Toledo dealership. He said he had been...

Re: Aftermarket air intake suggestions

I was looking at a 3 door on the showroom floor a couple of weeks ago and came to the same conclusion. However, I think it might be doable. My initial plan (without really taking things apart)...

Re: Lag Time from Build Date to Delivery

I think it may be more than an informational TSB. I recall my first look at an Astra on the showroom floor back in January when they first arrived. I was looking over the engine room and...
