Re: Thoughts on FORD FOCUS

A little about the '12 Focus. Granted this is just opinion. I test drove 3 cars this past weekend... a '11 Mazda3 i Sport, a '11 Ford Focus and a '11 Honda Civic LX Sedan.

If I had to rank them:...

Re: Drivers Side Door Lock- '00 SL-1

Keep in mind I know nothing about cars, so I was just doing what seemed to make sense.

I unscrewed the door handle/power lock switch assembly and was able to take out the switch from there.

Re: PO732/Repair place DC area?

What would all of that entail? How difficult is it to replace the entire tranny and do it right? I've barely done any repairs on any cars in my life.

Re: PO732/Repair place DC area?

Alright. It's sitting in my parking lot right now.

It slammed into reverse up until this morning, and when I pulled into the shop, it stopped going in reverse.

They claimed that 2nd gear and...

Re: PO732/Repair place DC area?

The shop said I have no more 2nd gear and no more reverse and that I'd need a whole new transmission for $1700.

That is rediculous. I'd rather sell the car to one of you guys.

Is anyone looking...

Re: PO732/Repair place DC area?

Thank you very much! When I researched on fixing it, I saw your exact post in an older thread. That made me realize this was way over my head, especially with how exact everything needed to be.

My...

Re: PO732/Repair place DC area?

How much do you think it would cost at a repair garage or dealership?

I really don't have the ability to do it on my own.

PO732/Repair place DC area?

2000 Saturn, Auto, 85k.

Pretty much typical problems as other PO732 (Gear 2 incorrect ratio). Slams into 2nd gear, slams into reverse. I experienced these symptoms this morning and I drove back...

Re: Front Tag Holder/Bracket?

Looks like I'm going to go with the OEM one from a local Chevy dealer. They'll install it for free, so that's not too bad.

Front Tag Holder/Bracket?

Front tag holder came off in accident. Got new bumper/hood this past weekend.

1) Is it necessary to get a $30 OEM tag holder for the '00 Saturn SL or just go to Autozone and pick up 2 mounting...

Rear Ended A Guy

OK, 2000 SL-1, Auto, ~85k.

Two weeks ago I rear ended a guy driving a Honda CRV. My car had typical front end damage (hood, bumper, front tag holder, hood latch). The car drove fine to the body...

Re: Help? Not sure what's wrong...

Thanks for the advice! After yesterday, I'll definitely check the oil at every fill up. I get it changed every 2-3k miles, but this was only 1500mi since the last one, so that's why I was worried.

Re: Help? Not sure what's wrong...

Crisis Averted! Needed oil badly.

Filled and good to go.

How much damage did I do if the oil pressure warning light went on for a split second here and there while braking?

Re: Help? Not sure what's wrong...

If it matters, the light stayed on for literally a split second...not a blinking or steady light, and even then only when it shifted down from 2nd to 1st.

Re: Help? Not sure what's wrong...

This happened around 10pm, so I didn't get a chance to check the oil yet.

My initial assumption was that the noise might be the "lifters" ?

Hopefully it's just the oil and it'll be fine today.

Help? Not sure what's wrong...

2000 SL-1, Auto, 83k.

Took 3 trips today: 20 mi, 20 mi and 30mi. (All highway @ 70-80mph)

On the first leg of the 30mi trip, as I was pulling off of the exit, the rpm's in the car became very...

Re: Where to go now that Saturns are no longer sold?

I'm also in the same exact situation. I have a 2000 SL1 with about 82k miles on it. I plan to give it to my cousin as her first car this year. Therefore, I'll be in the market for a new (NEW) car.
