Re: Saturn SL2 1999 Timing Chain Replacement

My old 1999 Home Coming is still serving him well after driving me to Florida to deliver it to him. Who knew~

Re: The $700 Saturn

I pop my head in occasionally.

I also have a 1999 SL2 Homecoming Edition. I've had it since early 2014 and it's been super reliable.

Nice to see a member here has one and drives it, as well.

Re: My 94 SL2 may be on the way out

It's probably an axle seal. If it was the seal behind the torque converter it would bleed badly while it's running and under pressure. Look under it while it's running and idling.

If it's the pump...

Re: Emergency Travel Support S-series

I travel commonly between Baltimore, Maryland and Milwaukee, Wisconsin in a 1998 SW2 with 236,000 miles, original clutch and such.

I often take 80/90 though Indiana and Ohio, pick up 76 though...

Re: 1997 SL2 pops out of gear

No. This is a terrible first car. Walk away dude. Walk. Away. There are other fish in the sea. Don't buy one with a flogged transmission. Not cheap, or easily fixed.

Re: What is your current mileage on your Saturn?

235,600 on a 1998 SW2, almost original everything, and a battery from 2003.

Re: and so it begins....

You can use the 1996 engine in the 1999 as it is.

You'd have to have the exhaust adapted at the flex pipe up. Since 1999 uses a different exhaust manifold. A good exhaust shop will have no issue...

Re: # of years using tire set before replacement

In 2012, I owned a 1987 Buick Century that was lovingly cared for, barely driven and garage kept in a climate controlled garage in a little old ladies house and driven on the weekends.

The car had...

Re: I'm back~ And I stole it.

I should also make note: I may not update a whole lot on this car. There is very little wrong with it in it's present state, so not much for me to tinker and mess with.

It's also not my daily...

Re: Kreen treatment documented

This stuff sounds interesting; But at the same time sounds difficult to get.

I've always used Chrysler ATF+4. It smells like cat pee. I'm not sure what that crud is made out of, but when it gets...

Re: I'm back~ And I stole it.

Sorry for the lack of updates. I was able to resolve a few issues with the wagon that are why the neighbor bought a new car.

I located the front end noises; Turns out the struts are shot, and make...

Re: I'm back~ And I stole it.

Yeah. I've actually had my eyes on this wagon for the last 4 years. I've elected to maintain and take care of it for my neighbors. Done brakes and such to it, a tune up, and other small items. They...

Re: I'm back~ And I stole it.

It's rocking 2007 Ion speakers now. Perfect fit, wired them all in neatly. Sounds much better. Replaced the belt, and washed up the engine, changed the oil, checked everything else out, and have been...

Re: I'm back~ And I stole it.

Shockingly it came with it and it works fine! Speakers are all horrible. But I have not seen a Gen 1 or 2 in years now with speakers that the foam hadn't rotted off of.

Re: To Sell, or Not To Sell

Well. The need for a truck is growing more and more.

The car is officially for sale.

I'll try here first, as I would like a Saturn Fan to end up with it over some stranger on Craigslist.

I...

To Sell, or Not To Sell

I've been away for a long time. I drive a 1980 Ford Courier during the summer and I rarely if ever drive my Saturn as a result in the warmer months. I love driving an antique as a daily driver.

Re: 1995 DOHC Piston Set

I'm still around but very little. I'm going in to Saturn season soon, so I'll be around over the winter months. During the summer months I drive my antique ford truck.

First Gen EGR Valve Solenoid Alternatives

For newer uses: First Gen = 1991 to 1995.

Anyway. It's been awhile since I've been here, since I've had no need due to no major issues, and any issues that have surfaced I just fix. The joy of...

Engine swap, 1998 Engine, 1999 Body

Okay so, I've done a number of motor swaps on these cars and have never run in to major issues.

I have 1999 Homecoming Edition with a fairly tired engine, burning a fair amount of oil and feels a...

Re: just a heads up

How about you stop starting arguments with other members on a verified, documented and proven system that Dex IV does not work well for Saturn TAAT transmissions.

I'm a member over there, as well. I made a fairly detailed post about these little cars.

I don't post much anymore here, or there, but I'm still around. I still have my 1994 HCE, and my 1999 HCE....
