Adios mis amigos

Traded in the Astra yesterday on a 2011 Hyundai Genesis Coupe Track model w/ the Touring package and a 6sp manual and could not be happier.

I got $10.5K on my trade-in and they stretched to get...

Re: What's the recommended tire pressure on 205/40/18?

I'm familiar w/ the theories of losing contact patch by running max pressure but in over 10 years of doing this I have never seen this to be the case on any modern radial tire.

I've gotten 80K...

Re: Help me choose a worthy Astra replacement?

So the 2011 Scion TC has a new 2.5 DI VVT engine w/ 186 hp (the 2010 has a 2.4 non DI w/ 161hp). The new motor also gets about 4 mpg better than the old due to the DI. The 2011 also has a much...

I have a fully loaded, very clean, XR3 manual I'd sell for $11,500 in TX. Synthetic oil, non smoking or pets, bluetooth and armrest added, 32K miles, not a single scratch or repair, comes w/ a spare...

Can anyone clarify at what mileage these maintenance items are due?

Thanks.

Re: What should I expect on trade it??

CarMax offered me $9K straight up (no over-allowance) w/ 32K on the odometer.

I see used ones online for closer to $13K.

I'd sell mine right now for $12K. It's a fantastic car I'm just ready...

Re: Steering wheel controls issues

Mine did this since new and I took my Astra in several times for this problem but they were so intermitent that the dealer could not fix anything.

Last time, we got the problem to occur and they...

Re: Help me choose a worthy Astra replacement?

I actually would have already traded in for a lovely 2008 Infiniti G37S 6sp I came across w/ only 11K miles but I just would prefer to sell my Astra instead and get a bit more for it.

As much as...

I think I found it!

2011 TC. http://www.scion.com/takeonthemachine/#/specs

186 hp, good mpg, reasonable cost, looks great w/ a fresh face for 2011, 6 sp manual, coupe, etc...

Re: What's "NORMAL" for the Air Conditoner?

Mine is brutally cold within 30 seconds. Even on a 105 degree Texas day once the cab is cooled off I never have to run it beyond fan setting #2 (1 more than the lowest).

This AC rocks! But I have...

Re: 8888 For Sale Soon

I think you should part your car out. At least the aftermarket parts.

I'll take the radio and Nav! Seriously.

I'm bummed you are selling yours as you have been the most fervent Astra fan and we...

Re: Good Bye to all my Astra friends

The limited service I have gotten as well as the car in general has been so great that if I didn't read this forum it would be hard to care at all.

I drove a 2009 BMW 330 the other day and...

Re: 8888 For Sale Soon

As much time and money as you spend on your cars you would be a lot more entertained w/ something like an M3, which is what I have been shopping for myself.

If I had another 50 hp and a 6 speed in...

So no chance of us running Ethanol in our Astras I presume?

I work directly across the street from a station that has several 100% ethanol pumps. I think the ethanol cost something like $2.20/ gallon.

I don't really care about that however as I know on...

Re: Automatic to Manual Transmission Swap

Try to trade out your auto Astra for a manual Astra.

But clearly no one here knows if this is a complicated swap or not.

I bet you could buy an entire totalled Astra for $2K. That would...

Re: Cat Back Exhaust System soon Available

At this point why not do something a bit more productive. A small header or manifold. Room to bolt on a generic turbo set up for low boost. A little downpipe and some intake piping. Minus the cost of...

Re: SIXTH Saturn

You got a really nice one. Congrats.

I usually purchase cars that cost 2x as much as the Astra and I swear this car is better than all of my previous purchases. So much value. I really like it.

Re: Germany

They sell all of these services and I've read drive reports as well as dyno charts. They definitely can reburn the 1.8VVT ECM Europe version for additional hp.

But trying to get it done from here...

Re: Germany

Actually, I would just take the entire ECM w/ me to Diblas. It takes about 2 minutes to remove (I removed mine sometime agoI as it's right on top of the motor. It's light and clean. They can burn a...

How about instead of getting useless crap like emblems why don't you write down all of your PCM numbers and take photos and go see Dbalis (sp?) and see if you can track down the readily available...

Re: Turbocharger exhaust manifold and kit

Yes that is another one I'm eagerly awaiting.

Really there are going to be some much better choices going forward. Fuel economy and power.

Re: Turbocharger exhaust manifold and kit

Although it really is too much to spend on an Astra it's honestly not a bad deal when you consider how much more you would have to spend to get an equivalent car w/ 227 hp to the wheels.

If it...

Re: Turbocharger exhaust manifold and kit

These Chinese imitation turbos cost nothing and I know from experience that some of them are every bit as good as an equivalent Garrett.

Also, even if the turbo was laggy it could still slap on...

Re: Turbocharger exhaust manifold and kit

For that inexpensive price I'd sure like to see someone give it a shot.

Roman Numeral Dude has the equipment to program one of these motors not to mention the most invested into his ride so he...
