Re: Silly question on factory engine block heater.

The car won't start faster necessarily, if its extremely cold the battery is still going to be cold and it will make that slower cranking sound. The OEM oil pan heater (not a block heater) will...

Re: Traction control light

I recall this discussion here previously as well (I may have been the one who asked). The LED does not light up on my 2009, its always bugged me.

Re: Windows roll down while I'm away from the car

Unlock button on your remote stuck? Pet playing with your second remote? :)

Seriously though it sounds like an electrical gremlin of some sort and that must be frustrating.

Re: Synthetic Oil?

I've been running with plain old Motomaster 5W-30 motor oil in both of my vehicles....only $15 (on sale) for 5L and I change the oil when the OLM recommends. Seems to work well for me.

Uggh Leaking Washer Fluid

I've had a leak in my washer fluid system for some time. I thought it was the pump that was leaking but discovered today its actually the plastic connector from the hose to the nipple on the pump...

Re: My Astra Might Be Toast

Is one of your wheel bearings gone bad? Crazy Spedo / Tacometer is one of the signs...you can search for it on here.

Re: Astra No Start - NO power to fuse or starter

I know you said battery voltage was 12.5 but did you do a load test on the battery? When mine died it did pretty much the same thing - no sign of trouble and then one day after gassing up it...

Re: Rear Brakes on XE

I did a quick google and had a hit on ebay - says there are more than 10 of those bolts available.

Re: Flex pipe

Finally getting around to this job but I've hit a major roadblock. The flex pipe and the muffler section are basically corroded together.

Re: Incredibly Slow Acceleration From a Stop

Hi,

Take a look at my thread from 3.5 years ago...sounds very similar.

After a couple trips to the dealer it was determined that a...

Re: Electrical Gremlin

Hmmm odd behaviour for sure on the fog lights. Wonder if there is a water intrusion issue somewhere or prior to you owning it.

If you don't want to track it down yourself there are usually...

Re: Looking for Axel shaft

Assume you tried a local GM dealer?

It does show as discontinued on a number of re-seller part sites online. I do see several of them on eBay that are still available.

Re: Tpms sensors on after market wheels

Similar experience here - I have yet to replace the TMPS sensors on either of my vehicles, but I do run with two sets of tires and TMPS on each summer / winter for the last 4 years or so.

Re: How to change engine air filter Saturn Astra xr 2008?

80,000km as per the manual.

For fun I've attached a pic of the Outlook's last filter change at 160,000km. Comparing the two perhaps not as much of a difference except less larger items trapped...

Re: How to change engine air filter Saturn Astra xr 2008?

Completed my first engine air filter change last weekend @ 80,000km. Before and after pics attached.

Not too bad really for 80,000 km but dirtier than my Outlook gets over the same change...

Re: Spark Plug Change for Astra

Nearly 4 years and 40,000km later time for spark plug change #2.

Second set seemed to be a little better than the first - less blackened from the looks of it and worst gap was .043.

Re: Astra Caliper and Bracket Bolts Torque spec

I'll head your word of caution but I think you are off by a factor of 10 on that conversion. 4mm is .15625 inches or 5/32.

Did I remove the pads? No but I measured them on top and bottom from...

Re: Astra Caliper and Bracket Bolts Torque spec
