Re: Code P0420

Carefully check for small exhaust leaks between the front and rear O2 sensors, especially the flex hose. A shop vac can supply air to pressurize the exhaust, use a soap and water solution to check...

Re: not good

Kind of doubt one tooth would cause damage, a compression test would verify.

Re: 1996 saturn sw2 reverse slam when warm

The question now is who did you get the valve body from, rebuilds are not create equal and what type of fluid are you using.

Re: New valve body now no reverse!

For the price of that kit I would be in contact with carsaturn. You need to read that code, no reverse is usually the input nut.

Re: SC1 auto trans refill from empty

Total capacity with torque converter is 7.4 quarts, so if the converter was emptied some how up to that, but I doubt it was totally empty. Just keep adding and checking till full, shift thru gears to...

Re: Can't figure out why I'm overheating...

The air is eliminated by the small hose going to the coolant reservoir, remove the cap and look inside to verify flow thru hose to reservoir.

Re: Ignore "Reverse Slam"

If that works for you it's anyone's guess how long, once it starts to clunk or slam it's only a matter of time before the input nut will loosen up. The less you use reverse the better.

Re: Starter replacement affected transmission??

Disconnecting battery => pull pcm fuse. The PCM B fuse is battery power to the PCM and when removed the ignition, injectors, fuel pump are all disabled.
Transmission adaptives require a scan tool...

Re: Starter replacement affected transmission??

I suppose that is a possibility, I believe the shift points are relearned after a power disruption, although it is seldom noticed unless solenoids or the valve body were changed.

Re: Starter replacement affected transmission??

Check your battery cables for proper connections, the trans is voltage sensitive. That would be the only thing in common, as I assume the battery was disconnected for the starter replacement.

Re: 02 sl2 security issue. No start

Seems like you have spark and fuel pressure, but no fuel being delivered. Maybe clogged injectors from the two year old gas? Or no signal to the injectors, I am not familiar with the security system...

Re: What exactly does replacing the AC drier entail?

Still $10.00 but much smaller, great stuff. https://www.amazon.com/Refrigeration-Technologies-RT201B-Gasket-Sealant/dp/B008HOSQQQ/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1499720027&sr=8-1&keywords=blue+nylog

Re: What exactly does replacing the AC drier entail?

If you replace the receiver dryer remove the old one, then un-cap and install the new one without delay as they absorb moisture quickly. Vacuum system as soon as possible. You would add 1 oz PAG oil...

Re: extremely sluggish in gear but idles and revs in neutral

I would check the transmission harness connection and the transmission fuses in the under hood junction box.

Re: hoping it's not the valve cover gasket

Sounds like you need a new gasket set along with a new set of plugs and wires.

^^^ In above post he mentioned the belt tensioner, from experience this can cause a nasty knock, as mentioned, remove belt and run briefly, if you are lucky this could be the problem. A knock severe...

Re: 2000 Saturn SL1 issue

Sounds like an F5 like issue, though the pin may be a different pin number on a 2000, someone may chime in. Easiest fix is a new fuse box from a pick @ pull if indeed this is the problem, take a look...
