Re: An odd thing happened this morning...

Really  Rock auto was almost $700 out the door for those 2 "carb" compliant cats (front and rear) with shipping (4 to 6 days) and Ca tax (2 days shipping made the total bill $896), I'm...

Re: An odd thing happened this morning...

Bank 2 is the front not the rear, correct? I replaced the front O2 sensor probably twice. Now, if I was told it was the front and it's really the rear, then that would explain the chernobyl affect.

Re: An odd thing happened this morning...

Ok, here's the scoop. The muffler shop called and said he disassembled the system and found that the front cat was fine, but the rear cat (somehow) melted and disintegrated and the debris was...

Re: An odd thing happened this morning...

I agree with all you guys. Before the great cat meltdown of 2018, the car was the perfect DD. I know the ROI on having the cats replaced is zero, but I also know that I can't buy another new or even...

Re: An odd thing happened this morning...

Yeah, I looked it up and found 3 P/N's. Still 3? Seems like overkill to me.

He didn't mention that in our call, but I know they are a $110/hr shop.

Re: An odd thing happened this morning...

He said, and it's difficult to believe, but he said there are 3 on it. A quick check on rockauto, gmpartscenter and the gm dealer, had prices anywhere from $275 (rockauto) to $860 (GM dealer) each,...

Re: An odd thing happened this morning...

Soooo, just received a call from my mechanic. It seems that the catalytic converters went south and have plugged up the exhaust. The bill to replace them.. $2,200. Not sure at this point that I...

Re: An odd thing happened this morning...

I did get the wrench pop up once.

I hope so. I'm having it towed to my mechanic which brings up your next point.

Actually my mechanic did the fluid/filter change, he's an ASE Certified Saturn...

Re: An odd thing happened this morning...

That was the first thing did was to check for codes. I actually have two readers that I used, one is built into my TorquePro (android/bluetooth) and the other is a direct OBDII plug-in. The only code...

Re: An odd thing happened this morning...

Well, there were no other occurrences since the 28th until last Friday and as some of you know it's been hot an **** out here. Last Friday was no different. Unfortunately, this time the wifie was...

Re: An odd thing happened this morning...

None, driveway is dry. I always looks for any type of leak when I change the oil.

Driveway is at a slight angle, almost, but not quite level.

Is anything ever easy on our cars :D

At about...

An odd thing happened this morning...

My LW sleeps in the driveway each night because the garage is full of the wife's car and my roadster, so each morning I jump into the LW, start it, shut the garage, put the seat belt on, foot on...

Re: Engine Heating Question

Just arrived home from work, temp was about 206-ish, pulled into the garage, opened the hood, grabbed a flashlight and found both fans running. Couldn't tell whether they were running at low, medium...

Wrench Engine Heating Question

Last week my temp went up to 218 for 3 or 4 minutes. Some context, I was heading home, outside temp was about 78, I was on the toll road, a 6% grade for probably 5 miles, with the A/C on, speed was...

Re: Oil Filter Housing

Unfortunately, it was probably me that inadvertently loosened the housing over time. But I did get the correct torgue spects from rb6667 and I purchased an oil filter channel lock plier that I will...

Re: Oil Filter Housing

So I contacted the owner of the repair shop that has worked on my Saturns for the past 6 or so years (they even did the engine swap in my Sky), and he indicated that (IHO) the filter housing has a...

Re: About those donuts in our trunks...

That's good to know, seeing how they're interchangeable between my 2 Saturns, and I can't use the donut above 45 or to get to work if the need arose.

As for the drive-ins, we actually have...

Happy About those donuts in our trunks...

I used it this weekend on my Sky (which did not come with a spare for obvious reasons - no room). A funny note, what the tech was done patching a hole in one of the tires, re-balancing, and rotating...

Re: Oil Filter Housing

Thanks guys!! So I'm finding that the gasket/o-ring for the housing isn't sold separately, but as part of the housing itself. Not a big concern, I have 180k on the LW and it's only now leaking, and a...

Oil Filter Housing

I changed my oil this past weekend and noticed a blanket of dirty oil covering the bottom of the engine and the area just below the oil filter. When I shined a light up to the filter area, I noticed...
