Re: Other S's on the road. Do you wave?

Nice attempt at deflection, "buddy". So cutting through all of the flailing, the answer to my question is you have no evidence to back up your statement, just more emotion-based opinion. That's...

Re: Other S's on the road. Do you wave?

"...they do have a quota to fill. that's the reality of it and its obvious."

Without derailing this thread further, this is a blanket, absolute statement that runs contrary to what I know about...

Re: Other S's on the road. Do you wave?

Yes. Depending on the jurisdiction, half or more of the people who get stopped initially for "simple" traffic violations have one or more other more serious issues. Even in the "best" neighborhoods,...

Re: Other S's on the road. Do you wave?

That's an interesting subjective interpretation. In reality there are many possible reasons for someone flashing their headlights back, including "I don't know why you're flashing your high beams,...

Re: Monroe Ready Mount Struts

My 'SL2 has about four years and 40k miles on its Monroe Quick Struts. No problems so far.

Re: Saturn Craigslist Deal of the Day!

They're going to have a tough time getting $800, or anything for that matter, for a 15 year old mystery mileage car that needs a new engine.

What's a "Subaru like car"?

Re: s series and kelly blue book

Yes, I've had 30+ vehicles since the '70s, so I've been able to see the pattern play out many times. Most cars depreciate down to next to nothing and stay there, but a few depreciate to a certain...

Re: s series and kelly blue book

I bought my '97 SL2 brand new and still have the window sticker. It was $15,972 and it wasn't anywhere close to loaded. It had cloth seats, crank windows, manual tranny, and a cassette player...

Re: Purolator 'Synthetic' Oil Filters

With only an occasional exception, I have used Fram TG's on all of my vehicles for several years with good results, so it will remain on my list of acceptable oil filters.

Re: Extinct Car Day 2014 at Larz Anderson Auto Museum

Seriously though, that sounds interesting. If they had one of those around here I'd go to it.

Re: Extinct Car Day 2014 at Larz Anderson Auto Museum

So if it's Extinct Car Day will the lot be empty? :)

Re: Look out.. Female coming through!

If you go with Rock Auto, do a search for discount codes. It's generally pretty easy to find a valid code that's good for 5% off, which isn't much but it usually offsets the shipping, at least.

Re: Look out.. Female coming through!

Any parts I need, if I can wait a few days for them, I usually get online from Rock Auto. I always shop their prices around, but they're hard to beat and their shipping is consistently fast. I've...

Re: ANYONE WANT A NEVER DRIVEN Sl2?

None, unless the transmission was in park at the time. :)

Seriously though, that's why the S-cars were (and still are) popular with RVers. They're lightweight and flat towable without...

Re: Look out.. Female coming through!

Your SC is close to being a twin to mine, on the outside anyway (diff color seats). Mine was also throwing a code for #2 misfire when I got it, along with an EGR code. I took the EGR valve off and...

Re: ANYONE WANT A NEVER DRIVEN Sl2?

I did some Googling and reading up on the cutaway display Saturns and found some interesting info, including old threads here on this site.

Apparently some of the cutaways were factory fresh new...

Re: Anybody ever think about doing a VW Golf Harlequin (multi-color) style body?

I see vehicles like that pretty frequently, but I don't think they were intentionally done that way. I think they were probably the result of several trips to Pick 'n' Pull or other salvage yard...

Re: ANYONE WANT A NEVER DRIVEN Sl2?

That one's in Ohio, and I can tell you that Ohio won't issue a title for it or allow it to be registered. The owner is well aware of that, hence the language and disclaimers in the ad. I'd be...

Re: ANYONE WANT A NEVER DRIVEN Sl2?

"Sold on bill of sale" means it can never be titled and registered, so it would have to be the donor car. The ad says "as a display car" and "parts only".

There are a lot of new parts there,...

Re: Other S's on the road. Do you wave?

I think to most people who drive a Saturn, or whatever vehicle in general, it's just a car, or an appliance, like a big toaster. Use it until it breaks, then throw it away and go get another one. ...

Re: Steering wheel has lost it's smooth finish

As soon as I buy a car, new or used, I put a matching color cover on the steering wheel. I like the gel-filled fake suede ones, for that NASCAR driving experience. :)

Seriously though, I...

Re: Just returned from a 3 1/2 week, 8,000+ mile trip in a $1900 SC1

I appreciate that. For you or anyone thinking of making a trip, especially with kids involved, I highly recommend it sooner rather than later, because I know from experience that later has a nasty...

Re: Biggest tire width?

I have 205/55-16's on my SL2 and SC1 with no problems. The larger contact patch makes quite an improvement in handling.

Re: Just returned from a 3 1/2 week, 8,000+ mile trip in a $1900 SC1

Thanks. I cleaned them up right after I got them by following a procedure I saw in several places online which involved first washing and then moisturizing them using any good quality (but...
