Re: 2001 sc2 sunroof drains

The biggest problem I have with them on my 01 SC2 is that the exit plugs pop out. The drain tubes go from the sunroof into the trunk, then out the sides. There are two of them; you'll see the tubes...

Re: Smoking and Smelling

Yeah, I thought the same thing... but replacing mine fixed my car flooding and smoking on start, sometimes not starting at all (other times it started just fine), and even fixed the security system's...

Re: Well, the Saturn has finally started to smoke...

Err, thinking of a much older transmission style. I usually work on really old engines, sometimes everything starts mixing together in this head of mine :dazed:

Re: Well, the Saturn has finally started to smoke...

You're sure it's burning oil, and not trans fluid or just dumping excessive fuel?

Re: Start... and dead

Soldered, and covered with heat-shrink tube. The connector was also nice and clean.

Re: Start... and dead

I replaced the ECTS, the old one didn't look physically bad, just scorched... but the car idle is much more stable and predictable now, so I'm guessing the old one was defective regardless.

The...

Re: Start... and dead

I've not put the ECTS in yet (Waiting for tomorrow so the engine is nice and cool), but passlock kicked in again, this time I caught it before even starting the car. The previous start was trouble...

Re: Start... and dead

Flooding the engine and failing to start can trigger the security system? Who designed this thing:drool:

I'll pick up an ECTS this week. I'm also going to replace the plugs since they're still the...

Re: Start... and dead

got home, but it still refused to start, repeating the second symptom of cranking into infinity with no actual starting. I wouldn't find any point on the fuel rail to easily check pressure, (It was...

Re: Start... and dead

Just to clarify, if I lock it with the keyfob but do NOT arm the alarm with it (one click on lock) it will still arm passlock?

I only ask because at the moment I don't have a spare key, and I'm...

Re: Are SL2's known to burn oil?

Yes.

IIRC, they made a modification to the piston or rings to reduce it, but the LL0, LK0, L24 are all fairly prone to burning oil with age, based on how they're treated.

Search the forums...

Re: Start... and dead

(can't edit my old message)

From what I've dug up, passlock should have been resetting itself after the 10 minutes. I notice the wiring diagrams for passlock systems include the door jam sensor,...

Re: Start... and dead

The security is factory. The key fob is the standard GM one, and the security light is coming from a built in light in the instrument cluster (Though it literally says 'SECURITY', it's not a...

Re: Start... and dead

Ok, update.

On friday, it started acting up again. It refused to start after work (After sitting 8 hours). I ran a few more checks and tests.

Re: Start... and dead

It's not failed to start once so far. But I deviated a bit from oldnuc's plan.

The car started without incident. I drove it to a gas station, filled two 5 gallon tanks with BP 93 octane, and...

Tank is just under half full when i finally got it started earlier, now sitting around 1/4th

No idea on the fuel filter, I've not changed it since I bought it used at 73k miles. It's probably the...

Re: Start... and dead

It doesn't happen every time. It's happened 4 times in the last 2 weeks. Today was the first time it didn't go in under 3 starts.
Air filter is fairly clean. I though of this actually, and tried...

Re: Start... and dead

Battery is a bit dated, but it's not outside it's life. The electrical system is sound as far as I can tell.

I started it ~14 times before it finally took today. The 14th start was just as crisp...

Start... and dead

This has been going on sporadically for a couple weeks now. Tonight I almost had to call a tow truck.

The car will start normally. No dimming lights, no extra cranks, no wheezing, whining, or...

Re: Suddenly capped at 4300rpm... but only when not in gear?

Well, the limiter problem is more or less figured out now.

I'm guessing the limiter is based on data from the wheel speed sensors? If so, I know at least one of them is bad on my car (The ABS...

Re: Suddenly capped at 4300rpm... but only when not in gear?

So I should be concerned instead that prior to this, the limiter wasn't working?

While troubleshooting idle issues earlier in the year I would frequently push it up well past 4500rpm out of gear...

Wrench Suddenly capped at 4300rpm... but only when not in gear?

Ok, this has me baffled.

Friday: I drove home normally. Nothing odd happened. The car ran fine.
Saturday: Removed defective aftermarket car deck for warranty work, replaced with the Saturn...

Re: Hit a deer, need some cheap body parts

The old mirror was re-mountable with a bit of drill action (Tacky but functional), but it wobbles between the black mounting plate and red mirror housing. Oh well. Got a new one for $35 on ebay.

yeah, I searched it both ways, quarter panel is used heavily around here, but fender seems more generally accepted. Maybe I'm just in a weird part of town:rolleyes:

I'm going to try to bend the...

Re: Increasing H.P.????

In theory, there is no limit.

In practice, it depends on how much money you want to dump into your engine.
